Coffee County Middle School soccer girls traveled to Tullahoma on Monday for a conference match. The Lady Raiders remain undefeated at 5-0 on the season after a 4-2 win over the Lady Cats. Jenna Garretson and Morgan Henley scored first half goals to help Coffee Middle to a 2-1 advantage at halftime. Sam Ellison kicked in the two 2nd half goals. Basketball Skills Clinic, Bucks Meet and Greet scheduled at Motlow College Aug. 30
Motlow College men’s head basketball coach Matt Sligh is inviting basketball hopefuls throughout the area to learn basic hoops fundamentals and meet the 2014-15 Bucks’ team during a skills clinic on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Nisbett Center on the Moore County campus. Registration is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., with the clinic to begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon. Following the clinic, participants will have the option of purchasing lunch and watching the Bucks perform drills and compete in contests on the Copperweld Arena floor. CHS Cross Country is Up and Running!
The resurrected CHS Cross Country teams competed in their first meet in more than 30 years on Saturday at the Mid State Cross Country Association Voyles Classic in Smyrna. 71 teams were represented at the meet with over 450 runners. The Raiders finished in 39th place out of the 57 teams that competed as a team. Andrew Rossom had the best time for Coffee County as he finished at 20 minutes and 44 seconds averaging a 6:40 mile. CCMS Soccer Stays Perfect
The Coffee County Middle School soccer team stayed perfect on the season on Saturday as they dropped Oakland Middle by a 2 to 1 score. The Lady Raiders got their first goal in the 24th minute by Allie Amado to send the Lady Raiders into the half with a 1 to 0 lead. Oakland came back to tie it in the 40th minute before Abbie Morgan scored the game winner in the 54th minute to improve the Lady Raiders record to 4 and 0 on the year. Raiders Fall In Opener
Red Raider football began the 2014 campaign Friday night in Franklin, TN with a match-up against Battle Ground Academy. Coffee County fell behind big at halftime, 35-7 but did not quit. The only score came on a Cody Howes 93-yard kickoff return. The Raiders came out in the 2nd half fired up and score two touchdowns in about 8 minutes. The Coffee County Central High School volleyball team finished the opening week of the 2014 season with a straight set win over Fayetteville on Thursday night at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym. The Lady Raiders open the season with a 3 and 0 record after dumping the visiting Tigers 25-11, 25-19 & 25-15. The Lady Rockets soccer team traveled to Sewanee on Thursday in their second match of the year taking on St. Andrew’s-Sewanee. Lady Rocket newcomer Savannah Smith got Westwood on the scoreboard with a first half goal that gave the Lady Rockets a 1 to 0 halftime lead. The Westwood Rockets improved to 3 and 0 on the year with a 22 to 0 shutout of Middle Tennessee Christian on Thursday night at Dyer-Bouldin Field.
