Raiders Fall On Pink Out Night– Thousands Raised
Estimates of over $10,000 was raised for Breast Cancer Awareness during the “Pink Out” game and weeks prior to the Coffee County/Lincoln County game this past Friday. A huge crowd attended the game and with the help of the Future Business Leaders of America at CCCHS, Farm Bureau Insurance and many other businesses and individuals the thousands of dollars were raised. Rockets Split With Eagleville
The Westwood Rockets and Lady Rockets opened their home basketball season with a doubleheader split against Eagleville on Thursday. The Lady Rockets raced out to a 15 to 4 lead after 1 quarter, only to see Eagleville close the gap to 18 to 16 at the half. Coach Angela Houck made several defensive adjustments at the half to hold the Lady Eagles to 3 second half field goals on the way to a 38 to 24 win. Cross Country Season Continues For Raiders
The CHS Cross Country teams competed in the Freeman Invitational on Thursday held at the Webb School. The Red Raider harriers continued their season long improvement as the boys teams finished 4th out of 9 teams on the day. Despite racing on a challenging course which was saturated from last week’s rains, four of the seven Red Raiders runners posted personal best times. Will Coffee County Football Play In 6A or 5A Next Season?
The TSSAA has released school enrollment figures that will be used to classify high schools for football competition during the next two years. Schools have until Oct. 22 to request to move up to a higher classification. Coffee County Head Coach Ryan Sulkowski said he and administrators are looking at their possibilities. In November the TSSAA will announce region lineups for each of the six classifications. Class 6A will feature the state’s largest 32 schools and be divided into four regions.
