Rockets Split With Eagleville

basketball2The Westwood Rockets and Lady Rockets opened their home basketball season with a doubleheader split against Eagleville on Thursday.
The Lady Rockets raced out to a 15 to 4 lead after 1 quarter, only to see Eagleville close the gap to 18 to 16 at the half. Coach Angela Houck made several defensive adjustments at the half to hold the Lady Eagles to 3 second half field goals on the way to a 38 to 24 win. The Lady Rockets were led in scoring by Ashley Starks who had 15 points and Morgan Jones added 13 points. Danielle Baker added 4 second half points as the Lady Rockets improved to 2 and 0 on the year.
The Rockets got 11 points from Marcus Pendleton and 10 points from Chase Simpkins, but fell to the Eagles 39 to 30. Eagleville’s Ethan Cobb led all scorers with 21 points, including 13 points in the penultimate 2nd half. Westwood will travel to Murfreesboro on Monday night to take on Middle Tennessee Christian. Tip-off for the girl’s game is 6 PM.
