CHS Volleyball Opens Season with a Win
The Central High School Lady Raider volleyball team opened their 2014 season at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium on Monday night as they played host to Grundy County. After splitting the first 2 sets 25 to 22 and 23 to 25, the Lady Raiders settled their nerves to sweep the next two sets 25 to 15 and 25 to 17 to open the season in winning fashion. This Friday night the Ryan Sulkowski era begins in Coffee County. The new head football coach will see his Red Raiders hit the field for the first regular season game at Battle Ground Academy in Franklin. The past Friday the Raiders took on Richland High School in the Marshall County Jamboree. Jimmy Hollandsworth looked great at quarterback throwing for over 100 yards and 3 touchdowns. Good Weekend For Coffee Middle Volleyball
The Coffee County Middle School Volleyball team traveled to Hermitage on Saturday to compete in the 15 team, Donelson Christian Academy Tournament. The Lady Raiders won 3 straight matches before falling in the semifinals to Brentwood Academy to finish in 4th place. In Pool play, the Lady Raiders got straight set victories over DCA (25-15 & 25-22) and Hendersonville Christian (25-10 & 25-13) on Saturday morning. In middle school soccer on Thursday Coffee Middle defeated Harris Middle from Shelbyville 3-0. Goals on the day were scored by Julia Duncan, Abbie Morgan and Morgan Henley. The Lady Raiders from Coffee Middle are now 2-0 on the season. The JV team won 4-0. Duncan scored twice in the JV game along with one goal each from Jenna Garretson and Ellie Graham. The Coffee County golf teams traveled to Fayetteville to take on Lincoln County on Tuesday. The Lady Raiders continued their winning ways with a 73-117 victory. Hollee Sadler led the way with a 1-under 35 over 9 holes followed by Jacque Crossland with a 38. The girls will be back in action next week sporting a 33-0 record. Coffee County Moving To 5A Football In 2015
The TSSAA Board of Control voted Monday to split the state’s largest 32 schools into their own classification beginning with the 2015 football season. The remaining schools will be split into five classifications under the old Class 5A format with the top four teams from each region earning playoff berths. All of the 32 Super 6 teams will automatically qualify for the playoffs, making the regular season a mosh pit for seeding.
