In middle school soccer on Thursday Coffee Middle defeated Harris Middle from Shelbyville 3-0. Goals on the day were scored by Julia Duncan, Abbie Morgan and Morgan Henley. The Lady Raiders from Coffee Middle are now 2-0 on the season. The JV team won 4-0. Duncan scored twice in the JV game along with one goal each from Jenna Garretson and Ellie Graham.
Next up for Coffee Middle will be a home match beginning at 5pm on Tuesday versus Warren County.
The Coffee County Red Raider boy’s golf team picked up two wins on Thursday at home. The Raiders led by Hayden Proffitt’s 38 over 9 holes defeated Grundy and Cannon Counties 161-183-188. John Parriger shot 40 for Coffee County followed by Jacob Prater’s 41 and Justin Hall shot 42. The Raiders improved to 18-8 on the season.
In girls play Coffee County played match against Grundy County. Coach Mike Ray mixed up his lineup giving Tegan Perry and Jordan Green their first start on the year and they did not disappoint. The Lady Raiders improve to 34-0 with a 95-111 win over the Lady Jackets. Perry shot 42 and Green carded a 53.
The Raiders travel to Shelbyville on Monday.
Thursday night on Thunder Radio the Westwood Rockets knocked off the Fayetteville Tigers, 28-7. QB Jake Hollandsworth scored the first touchdown on the night for the Rockets on a run. Byron Sullivan added a 34 yard TD run to help Westwood take a 14-7 lead. In the 2nd half the Rockets got two more TD’s, the first by Marcus Pendleton in the 3rd quarter and he added his 2nd score on the night in the 4th quarter that sealed the win for the Rockets. Pendleton and Jacob Floyd were named the Gateway Tire players of the game.
Westwood moves to 2-0 on the year and won their 11th game in a row over the last two seasons.
