The Aaron’s Sales and Lease Student of the week for 23 January 2015 is Kylie Brown. Kylie is in seventh grade at Coffee County Middle School in Coffee County. She is the daughter of proud parents Megan and Ricky. She was nominated for this award because she set the example for other students to follow and is representative of the school’s motto, respectful, responsible and prepared. She enjoys going places with friends and family. Her favorite subject in school is math because she finds it to be easy. She plans on being a veterinarian when she gets older. Coffee Middle Splits Pair with Harris on Thursday Night
The Lady Raiders and Red Raiders of Coffee County Middle School closed out their regular season with a “Pink-Out” night on Thursday night as they played host to Harris Middle of Shelbyville. The Lady Raiders, who trailed at the half, outscored Harris 29 to 10 in the 2nd half to close out their conference slate with a 36 to 21 win and finish the regular season with 13 and 1 conference record. Awards Presented At Westwood Middle School Football Banquet
Westwood Middle School held their annual football banquet this week. Head Coach Chad Dyer said this was the 30th year the annual Brian Gregory Award has been presented. This year’s winner was Byron Sullivan, the son of Kim and Paul Sullivan. Other awards handed out included 3 players selected for the 2014 Duck River Valley All-Conference team. CHS Wrestlers Prepare for Region Duals on Thursday
The Central High School wrestling dropped their final match of the regular season on Tuesday night at Forrest as they fell to the Rockets 58 to 23. The Raiders got a technical fall victory from David Tate(wrestling at 138 pounds) and pin fall wins from Mitchell Simpson(145), Dustin Seals(285) and Austin Payne(182). Over the weekend, the Red Raider grapplers got their best performance ever at the Mountain Top Invitational in Sewanee. Lady Bucks Drop Two Games
The Motlow Lady Bucks continued to show improvement over the weekend despite dropping a pair of Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) contests on their annual road trip to west Tennessee. The Lady Bucks (2-14, 1-8) went to Dyersburg on Friday and fell 68-59 to Dyersburg State, then traveled to Memphis on Saturday and came up short 80-75 to Southwest Tennessee. Motlow Men Split Weekend Games
The basketball season’s longest road trip will conclude on Saturday when the Motlow Bucks and Lady Bucks travel to Gallatin for a pair of contests against Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) rival Volunteer State. Tipoff for the women’s game is scheduled for 2 p.m., with the men to follow. The Bucks (14-3, 7-2) are coming off a weekend trip to West Tennessee where they split a pair of conference games. Benefit For Harryman Family
A fundraiser for the family of Derek Harryman will be held this Saturday Jan. 24. A spaghetti supper will be held from 5:30pm til 9pm at the Coffee County Rescue Squad building on the Murfreesboro Hwy. Plates will be $10 each. A silent auction will be held with many great items donated from area businesses. Some of the items donated include Nashville Predator tickets and a hockey stick donated by Thunder Radio, a water filtration system from Sears of Tullahoma and so much more. Lady Raiders Take Down Stars
Monday night at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium the Coffee County Lady Raiders hosted Siegel Stars. The game was close throughout with Coffee County leading by no more than 3 points at the end of each of the first 3 quarters (10-7, 22-21 and 31-29). In the end the Lady Raiders squeezed out a 40-37 win over the Lady Stars. Cameron Davis led Coffee County in scoring with 13 points and was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center player of the game. Sydney Pearson added 12.
