The Central High School wrestling dropped their final match of the regular season on Tuesday night at Forrest as they fell to the Rockets 58 to 23. The Raiders got a technical fall victory from David Tate(wrestling at 138 pounds) and pin fall wins from Mitchell Simpson(145), Dustin Seals(285) and Austin Payne(182).
Over the weekend, the Red Raider grapplers got their best performance ever at the Mountain Top Invitational in Sewanee. As a team, the Raiders finished in 3rd place as four Red Raider wrestlers finished with silver medals. Owen Teague(132), David Tate(138), Austin Payne (182), and Josh Tobitt (195) all advanced to the finals while Dustin Seals(285) finished in 3rd place.
On Thursday, the Red Raiders will advance to the Region 5 duals meet at Oakland High School in Murfreesboro. Coffee County will take on Siegel, the top seed from the opposite district, in the semifinals. With a win, the team would earn a berth in the Region finals agasint the winner of Tullahoma & Cookeville. If they can advance to the finals, they would earn a team berth in the state wrestling tournament. Thursday’s match is set to get underway at 6:00 PM.
