Tullahoma Woman In Jail On Drug Charges
A Tullahoma woman is being held in the Coffee County Jail on a bond of $16,000 after she allegedly attempted to sell prescription drugs at a mobile home park on South Roosevelt Street. 57-year-old Shirley Jean Russell of Rutledge Falls Road in Tullahoma was charged with manufacture/deliver/sell controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of prescription drugs without a prescription. According to a report by Tullahoma Police Officer Matt Walker, Russell allegedly was in the parking lot of the park approaching individuals attempting to sell the pills. Coffee County Man Hurt In Cowan Wreck
A Summitville man was injured in a traffic accident in Cowan Monday afternoon. The accident occurred when a dump truck loaded with rocks overturned near South Middle School on Highway 41-A. The truck was operated by Luke Smith of Summitville. According to Cowan Police Chief Allen Edwards, when Smith’s truck topped a hill, he saw a car sitting in the road waiting to turn. Judge Vanessa Jackson Will Deliver Commencement At Motlow
Coffee County Judge Vanessa Agee Jackson will deliver the commencement address at the Motlow College graduation May 5 in Copperweld Arena of the Nisbett Center on the Moore County campus. After re-districting Coffee County now falls in 6th Congressional district with the seat now held by Republican Diane Black. In August Black will face familiar foe Lou Ann Zelenik in the primary. Tullahoma Firefighter Lt. Jason Caldwell was promoted this week to the rank of captain. Caldwell has been with the department for 20 years and will assume his additional duties starting today. Manchester Man Charged With Rape
A 20-year-old Manchester man has been arrested for the rape of a nursing home patient. Anthony Heartsell a patient of a nursing home on Powers Bridge Road in Manchester is accused of raping a wheelchair bound patient at the home. According to warrants obtained by Manchester Police Detective Butch Stewart, Heartsell physically assaulted and forcibly raped a wheelchair bound female patient at the nursing home. Coffee County Sheriff Steve Graves is hoping to hear this week from the Tennessee Department of Corrections on when they will have a bed available for convicted child killer Thomas “TJ” Greenwood. He was found guilty of first-degree murder week before last of the murder of 2 year old Hayden Gage West on March 9, 2010. Last week a jury sentenced him to serve a sentence of life in prison which means he will be required to serve 51 years before being eligible for parole.
