The Coffee County Middle School soccer team hosted Algood on Monday night at the CHS field in a makeup game from August.  Allie Amado got a first half goal to send the game into the half even at 1.  Algood notched their one goal on a corner kick. In the second half, the Lady Raiders cranked up the offensive pressure outshooting the visitors from Putnam County.  Abby Morgan, Jenna Garretson and Julia Duncan all found the back of the net for the Lady Raiders.  With the win, Coffee Middle finished the regular season with a record of 10-0-1.  The Lady Raiders will take part in the conference tournament coming up on Saturday which will be hosted by Harris.

The Central High School volleyball team got their 25th win of the year as they won a 3 set non district match at Grundy County on Monday night. The Lady Raiders got a 25 to 20 win in the first set only to see the Lady Jackets tie the match in the second by a score of 25 to 21. This forced a decisive 3rd set which Coffee County won by a score of 15 to 8. Tyger Fenton led the Lady Raiders in kills with 8 and digs with 7.  Brittany Williams had 3 service aces and 8 assists.  With the win, Coffee County improved to 25 and 12 on the season.  The Lady Raiders will close out their district season Tuesday night in Winchester as they take on Franklin County.  First serve is set for 6:00 PM.

The Coffee County Middle School JV soccer team completed a perfect season on Saturday as they won the CTC JV soccer tournament at the CCMS Field. The Lady Raiders, who came into the tournament as the top seed, faced off against Tullahoma in the opening round. The Lady Raiders got 2 goals from Julia Duncan and a goal from Maddie Jones to advance to the finals by a score of 3 to 1. That set up a meeting in the finals with the 3rd seeded Eagles of Harris Middle.

In the finals, Julia Duncan bent a beautiful corner kick just inside the far post to give Coffee County a 1 to 0 lead which they carried into the halftime break. Duncan added her 4th goal of the day in the 34th minute to extend the lead to 2 to 0. The Eagles stepped up the pressure as they added a goal in the 40th minute to tighten the match, but great defense and effective ball control helped the Lady Raiders close out the match, and the championship, by a final score of 2 to 1.

The Coffee Middle Lady Raiders wrapped up their volleyball season Thursday night with a home floor win over Harris Middle. Set score were 25-8 and 25-11. Abigail Layne had 5 aces and Haley Richardson finished the night with 3 kills and an ace.
Coffee County finished at 12-3 for the year.
The JV team also won 25-13 and 25-9.

Thursday night at the Joe Frank Patch gym in Manchester the Coffee County Lady Raiders picked up a straight set win over District 8-AAA foe Lawrence County. Set scores were; 25-19, 25-10 and 25-18.
Coffee County got solid play from Brittany Williams and Sydney Pearson as they had 4 aces each. Williams also had 10 assists. Cursten Vaughn continued to hit the ball very well, with 9 kills on the night.
The Lady Raiders improved their overall record to 24-12 on the season. They will play on the road on Monday at Grundy County.

The Coffee County CHS boys Cross Country team finished 3rd out of 8 teams on Tuesday at Arrowhead Ranch in Normandy. The Red Raiders placed 3 runners in the top 10 led by Any Rossum who completed the 3.2 mile course in 20:30. Maxwell Nicoll and Scott Randolph crossed the line at 6th and 7th respectively. In the girl’s race, the 4 Coffee County runners did not qualify for the team competition, but the Top 2 runners finished in the Top 15 for the meet. Makenzie Morgan was a medalist as she finished in 9th place with a time of 27:27. Nadja Hansen finished in 14th at 28:40. The Raiders travel to Fayetteville on Tuesday to compete in a meet at Lincoln County High School. Also competing, in the middle school division, will be Westwood Middle. Both squads are tuning up for the MidState Meet at Smyrna along with the Region Championships which will take place in October.

Tuesday afternoon in front of the student body at Coffee County High School the Lady Raiders took on Eagleville in volleyball. The very hard fought 5 set match went in Favor of Eagleville. Coffee County won sets one and four, 25-22 and 25-20. Eagleville picked up wins in sets two, three and five by scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 15-9 in the deciding 5th set.
Cursten Vaughn led the Lady Raiders in kills with 6. Cameron Davis and Maddie Taylor contributed 4 aces each. Brittany Williams continued her good play by supplying 13 assists.
The Lady Raiders are at home again Thursday night as they host a District 8-AAA matchup against Lawrence County beginning at 6pm.

Ashley Gilliam of Manchester, who attends Coffee County Middle School has done it again. She has qualified for the Drive, Chip and Putt National Championship.
Ashley Gilliam made the National Finals last year in the Drive, Chip and Putt inaugural competition and finished 3rd overall.
This year in her attempt to make a return trip to Augusta National, Ashley won the local qualifier in Chattanooga and the sub regional in Smyrna to advance to the regional finals at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, GA.
Ashley won the driving competition and tied for 1st in putting at the Regional. By winning the Regional she advances to the National Finals for a 2nd straight year. She is only one of two of last year’s finalists to make it back to Augusta National, home of the Masters. Only 80 players will make it, 10 in each age group, 40 girls and 40 boys.
The 2015 Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals will be held April 5, 2015 at the Augusta National Golf Club and televised on Golf Channel.
Samuel Prater from Manchester also competed in the regional final at TPC Sugarloaf after winning the sub regional in Smyrna. Prater finished 2nd in driving and 3rd in putting at the regional, just barely missing out on a trip to the national championship.
