Coach Kevin Stallings knows that probably not many people outside the Vanderbilt locker room expect much from the Commodores this season. The top six scorers are gone from the squad that knocked off Kentucky for the Southeastern Conference tournament championship, Vanderbilt’s first since 1951, with three taken in the NBA draft. Season Comes To A Close For Raider Football
The football season ended on a bad note for Coffee County Friday night. On Senior Night at Carden-Jarrell Field the Raiders fell to Cookeville 33-7. The Red Raiders used some trickery to score its only TD. In the second quarter Deangelo Rozier took a handoff and then pitched it back to Jesse Brown who hit a wide-open Jeffrey Simmons, who waltzed into the end zone for a 57-yard touchdown. The Motlow Bucks and Lady Bucks will open the 2012-13 basketball season when they travel to Dayton, Tenn., to face the Bryan College JV teams on Friday, Nov. 2. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. central time. The first home contest and the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) opener will come a week later, with Columbia State scheduled to visit Copperweld Arena on Friday, Nov. 9. The Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association (CMSA) held the 2012 Tony Lama CMSA World Championship in Amarillo, TX October 17-20. Over 280 competitors participated in the run for the highest payout in the history of the sport of Mounted Shooting. Over a 4 day period CMSA awarded over $170,000 in cash and prizes.
