Coffee Co. Middle Softball Finishes Season In 2nd Place

A walk-off RBI from Lauren Tomberlin pushed Coffee Middle softball team to a 6 to 5 victory over Harris Middle in the CTC Tournament on Friday night in Tullahoma. The Lady Raiders, playing in the elimination bracket, were pushed to the limit by the upstart Tigers. Coffee Middle was led in hitting by Shelby Scrivnor who had two doubles and an RBI. Tomberlin finished with a single, a double and the game winning RBI. Kasarah Scheller also added a double and an RBI to advance the Lady Raiders to the 3 PM semifinal game on Saturday against Warren County....

The varsity and junior varsity tennis teams competed in the District 8 tennis tournaments on Thursday at Sewanee. In singles play, Kristen Shelton and Trevor Ivy-Bodman each advanced to the 2nd round before being eliminated. Audra Schaffer and Will McCormick were each eliminated in the first round. Coffee County Head Baseball Coach Resigns

Coffee County High School head baseball coach Brent Whitlock told the players on his team on Thursday morning that he has decided to resign at the end of the baseball season. CHS Principal Joey Vaughn told WMSR that he appreciate the work that coach Whitlock has done. He said Whitlock is fine man and he wishes him the best. Vaughn said that Whitlock wants to spend more time with his family. The principal added that the school will start the process of looking for a new coach as this season wraps up. In a crucial district softball game for Coffee County on Wednesday night they hosted Shelbyville. The Lady Raiders lost to the Eaglettes earlier in the season. It took 9 innings for Coffee County’s baseball team to finish off Franklin County, 3-2 on Tuesday night at Powers Field. Kyle Douglas pitched all 9 9 inning for the Raiders striking out 11. Hunter Smithson hit the ball well for Coffee County with a single and a solo homer. He scored twice and he had an RBI. Monday was a great day for Brianna Jones as Brianna threw a one-hit shutout to carry the Coffee County Lady Raiders to a 1-0 victory over Tullahoma. Coffee County’s only run came on a Lady Cat error. Brianna racked up 14 strikeouts in win as the Lady Raiders improved to 18-11-1 on the season and 7-2 in District 8-AAA play. The Lady Raiders of Coffee Middle completed an undefeated regular season conference schedule with a 7 to 2 win over Tullahoma on Saturday. The Lady Raiders got 5 runs in the 2nd inning behind 3 walks and 3 hits.
