After 111 points and a combined over 900 yards of offense the Coffee County Red Raiders lost a heartbreaking football game to Franklin County on Friday night in Winchester. Freshman Alontae Taylor scored a school record 6 touchdowns (runs of 82, 10, 6, 4, 5 and 5 yards) and rushed for 256 yards for the Raiders in the 56-55 triple overtime loss. Prep Cross Country Teams in Action Saturday

The CHS and Westwood Cross Country teams will compete in the Midstate Cross Country Championship on Saturday at Sharp Springs Park in Smyrna.  Both teams look for the opportunity to qualify runners for the state meets  Th e high school  meet  is set for Saturday, November 1st in Nashville and the middle school state is slated for October 18 in Knoxville.  This Saturday, the CHS boys will get underway at 8:30 AM with the Girls racing at 9:15.  The Westwood boys get underway at 1:30 PM with the girls racing at 2:00. CCMS Soccer Falls in CTC Tournament Finals

Out-shooting Harris Middle 12 to 9 and controlling time of possession in Saturday’s CTC Soccer Tournament final was not enough to earn Coffee County Middle School the conference title as they fell by a 1 to 0 score. The Motlow Lady Bucks have begun official practice in preparation for the 2014-15 basketball season, the 40th in school history and the first under new head coach Dominic Tharpe. Junior college teams throughout the country practiced for the first time Oct. 1. Lady Raider’s soccer had a home game Thursday night against Central Magnet. The Murfreesboro school was undefeated at 15-0 on season headed into the match. Alex Ellison scored on an assist by Makenzie Anderson in 35th minute of the first half to help Coffee County to a 1-0 lead at halftime.
