The Coffee County High School swim team had a great outing this past Friday at the Middle Tennessee Regional Swim Meet. Daniel Larsen set new school and personal best times in the 100 yard backstroke finishing 11th overall; the highest finish of any CHS swimmer in the school history and in the 100 yard butterfly finishing 17th overall. CCMS Lady Raiders Win CTC Conference Tournament Championship
In a game where neither team had a lead bigger than 4 points, the Coffee County Middle School Lady Raiders forced a South Franklin Lady Trojan turnover as time expired to claim a 25 to 24 win on Saturday night in the Central Tennessee Conference tournament finals. On Friday night the Motlow Lady Bucks fell to Cleveland St. 53-35. Lauren Brown, Sabrina Jackson and Chelsea Holman led Motlow in scoring w/ 8 pts each. The Bucks defeated Cleveland St. 87-79. The Coffee County Middle School Red Raiders gave the top seeded Warriors of White County a 4 quarter fight before falling 44 to 26 in the CTC Tournament semifinals on Fright night at Coffee County Middle School. Tied after 1 quarter at 7 and trailing 6 at the half had Coffee County in position to stun the regular season champions. Playing inspired basketball for Friday night was not enough for the Red Raiders and Lady Raiders to score a pair of upsets over Shelbyville on Friday night at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym. The Aaron’s Sales and Lease Student of the week for 30 January 2015 is Ava Weidenbacher. Ava is in fifth grade at Hillsboro Elementary School in Coffee County. She is the daughter of proud parents Amanda and Pat. She was nominated for this award because she is and exemplary student and is always helpful to her fellow classmates and her teachers. Ava’s favorite subject is language arts because she uses those skills every day, it’s fun and she like to learn new things. She plans to be a doctor when she gets older because she enjoys helping people. Entering the 4th quarter of their quarterfinal CTC conference tournament game trailing by 5 points, the Red Raiders of Coffee County Middle School doubled their 3rd quarter offensive output to get a thrilling 31 to 29 comeback win over North Franklin on Tuesday night. Facing elimination, 8th graders Andrew Mahaffey and Weston Hargrove combined for eleven 4th quarter points to extend the Red Raider season to Friday’s semifinals.
