Cold free throw shooting by the Lady Raiders of Coffee Middle in the 4th quarter on Thursday night forced Thursday night’s CTC semifinal game to overtime, before Coffee County put away Warren County by a final of 41 to 38. A loud and supportive CCMS student section helped the Lady Raiders erase a 5 point 4th quarter deficit as Bella Vinson drilled a 3 pointer from the right wing with 2:29 left in the game to tie it at 29. Coffee County, who was 3 for 10 at the free throw line in the 4th quarter, could only manage a 3 point lead down the stretch which Warren County erased on a 3 pointer as time expired to send it to the extra period. All the overtime scoring was done at the free throw line as each team remained aggressive. The Lady Raiders made 5 of their last 8 free throws to grab the win and advance to Saturday’s finals with the 2 point win. Abby Morgan, who scored 6 points in the 4th quarter, nailed 2 huge free throws with 10 seconds remaining in overtime to seal the win. Morgan led Coffee County in scoring with 13 points. Lindsey Perry ended the night with 7 points and Jacey Vaughn added 6 points. With the win, Coffee County will face South Franklin on Saturday night at 5 PM in the CTC tournament finals. These two teams, who split during the regular season, tied for the regular season conference title. The Coffee Middle Red Raiders will take on White County on Friday night at 5 in the boys semifinal. Coffee County Middle School is hosting the CTC Tournament.
