Playing inspired basketball for Friday night was not enough for the Red Raiders and Lady Raiders to score a pair of upsets over Shelbyville on Friday night at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym.  The Lady Raiders, who led for most of the 1st quarter, trailed the Eaglettes by 4 points a minute into the 3rd quarter before falling by a final score of 56 to 36.  Sara Brown hit 6 4th quarter freethrows to lead Coffee County in scoring with 12 points to earn the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the Game honors.  Tyger Fenton and Cameron Davis each netted 6 points for the Lady Raiders as Coffee County dropped to 12 and 13 on the season and 2 and 8 in District 8AAA play.

The Red Raiders stretched a 4 point halftime lead to 9 points with 5 minutes left in the 3rd period before Shelbyville’s depth took effect.  The Eagles outscored Coffee County 36 to 17 down the stretch to win by a final score of 58 to 48.  Peyton Talley earned the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the Game honors as he finished with 18 points.  Wyatt Day had 10 points while Addison Carter and J.P. Duncan each netted 6 points.  Download Thunder Radio’s broadcast The Raiders and Lady Raiders travel to Columbia on Tuesday night to take on the Lions.  The girls game will tip off at 6:00 PM.

Between games, the 2015 Winterfest court was presented and the King and Queen were announced.  Seniors Caleb King and Aubrey Southerland were crowned King and Queen as selected by a vote of the CHS student body.
