The Coffee County High School tennis teams hosted Shelbyville at Fred Deadman Park on Monday afternoon. The Lady Raiders lost a hard fought battle with the Eaglettes 4-3. Singles winners were Maddie Taylor, Savannah Hodge and Ally Shelton. The boys also dropped a tough matchup, 4-3. Winners were Eaton Mai, Trevor Ivy-Bodman and Jay Patel. On Saturday afternoon the Coffee County baseball played host to Beech High School from Sumner County. Senior Dylan Sandavol was given the start on the mound and was outstanding, pitching a complete game giving up only 2 hits and just one unearned run. Coffee County’s Lady Raiders jumped to an early 1-0 lead after one inning at Warren County on Friday afternoon. The Lady Raiders added one more run in the 5th inning and had to hold on for a 2-1 win. Coffee County was led by Shelby Scrivnor’s hitting. Scrivnor went 3-4 and drove in one. She singled in the first, third, and fifth innings. Problems with the electronic timing and the absence of some key performers could not dampen the satisfaction and praise that CHS Track coach Stan Jarrell had for his teams coming out of Tuesday’s District 8 Track Meet. Preliminary results show the Red Raider and Lady Raider thinclad teams each finishing in 3rd place in the meet.
