CHS Thinclads with Strong Showing at District Track Meet

Problems with the electronic timing and the absence of some key performers could not dampen the satisfaction and praise that CHS Track coach Stan Jarrell had for his teams coming out of Tuesday’s District 8 Track Meet. Preliminary results show the Red Raider and Lady Raider thinclad teams each finishing in 3rd place in the meet. Coach Jarrell remarked that corrections in the placements might move the Lady Raiders to a higher finish, “but regardless, I am proud of how well we competed.”
The Lady Raiders got 1st place finishes from:
Taylor Deberry in the 100M hurdles,
Sarah Pearson in the 300M hurdles,
Lili Harris in the 400 M dash,
Karson Young in the triple jump,
Svetlanna Ingram in the Shot Put.
Other high finishers for the girls were:
Javan Vurge had a 3rd place finish in the 200 M dash and a 4th place finish in the 100M dash,
Sarah Hollis finished 5th in the 800M run,
Sarah Pearson finished 2nd in the 100M hurdles and 2nd in the high jump,
McKenzie Anderson finished 2nd in the 300M hurdles,
Taylor Deberry finished 4th in the 300M hurdles,
Karson Young finished 4th in the high jump and 6th in the 100M hurdles,
Bailey Nester finished 4th in the high jump,
Keishel Norton finished 3rd in the Shot Put,
Svetlanna Ingram finished 3rd in the Discus,
Susan Martin finished 4th in the Discus

The Red Raiders got 1st place finishes from:
Kani Johnson in the 110M hurdles and the High Jump.
Reece Pratt in the Discus
Other high finishers for the boys were:
Damion Smythia was 5th in the 100M dash,
Kani Johnson was 5th in the 200M dash,
Andy Rosson was 2nd in the 800M and 4th in the 1600M
Ben Myers was 3rd in the 800M
Caleb Buck was 4th in the 3200M,
Reece Pratt was 4th in the Shot Put
The boys relay team of: Rein Bozich, Caleb Buck, Ben Myers and Trevor Reese was 3rd in the 4×800 relay while the 4×400 relay team of: Rein Bozich, Dalton Dehaven, Johnny Dulin and Joe Melton fished in 3rd place.

The Raider track teams will be at home on Thursday, April 23rd as they welcome Shelbyville and Lincoln Co to Carden-Jarrell Field. The Lady Raiders will have 3 athletes competing in the Sectional Penthalon in Evensville on Monday. Set to compete for the Lady Raiders will be McKenzie Anderson, Taylor Deberry and Sarah Pearson. The penthalon events get underway at 1:00 PM Eastern time at Rhea County High School
