CHS Baseball Edges Lincoln County on Wednesday
Needing a win to extend their season, Coach Jon Spears of the Coffee County Red Raiders gave the pitching nod to the staff ace Trace Friedlein in Lincoln County on Wednesday night. Friedlein pitched a complete game 2 hitter to lead the Red Raiders to a 3 to 2 win and extend the season into the district tournament. The win for Coffee County was their first in nearly 3 weeks as the Raiders dropped the Falcons in the District 8AAA play-in game. CHS Soccer Closes Regular Season with a Win on Tuesday
Ending the regular season in McMinnville, the CHS soccer team capped off a great 2 week stretch with a 3 to 1 victory over the Pioneers. Coffee County got on the board in the 2nd minute as Samuel Brown scored, with an assist from Ernesto Gomez, for the Raiders. Jones No-Hits Whitwell For 2nd Time This Season
Wednesday night at Whitwell High School in Marion County the Lady Raiders softball team improved their record to 25-4-1 with a 5-0 win over the Lady Tigers. Brianna Jones threw her 4th no-hitter of the year and her 2nd of the season against Whitwell. She struck out 9 batters on the night. Jones helped her own cause with a hit and an RBI. On Monday night the Coffee County Red Raider baseball team traveled to Hendersonville to take on Pope John Paul II School. The Knights jumped to an early 3-0 after the first inning and they added another run for a 4-0 advantage after 4. The Raiders battled back to cut the lead to 4-3 in the 5th. College Street 3rd Graders Shine at Nashville Race
Three College Street Elementary 3rd graders finished in the top 3 spots on Sunday at the Kids Rock Nashville Race sponsored by the Middle Tennessee YMCA. Greenlee Woods finished in first place in her age group at 6:22. Jorga Waggoner was 2nd at 6:54 and Madison Pruitt crossed the line 3rd at 7:32. The race featured a one mile course covering the immediate area around LP Field and in the adjoining neighborhood. Fielding a team of 6th graders for a JV baseball team has great advantages, but comes with growing pains. Those growing pains resulted in 4 unearned runs as the CCMS JV Baseball team saw their season come to an end on Saturday in an extra inning loss to North Franklin in the CTC JV Tournament.
