A strong singles performance lifted the Lady Raider tennis team to a 4 to 2 win over Lincoln County on Monday in the district team tennis semifinals. Savannah Hodge, playing in the 4th spot, trailed 4 to 1 early in her match against her Lady Falcon opponent, only to roar back to capture a 9 to 7 win and give Coffee County a 3 to 2 lead heading to doubles play. From there, the #1 doubles team of Karlee Reed and Maddie Taylor blitzed the #1 Lincoln County team 8 to 2 to advance the Lady Raiders to the district finals later in the week. Other singles winners were Alex Crossland (8 to 5) and Maddie Taylor (8 to 2). Also in singles, Karlee Reed lost her match to the district’s singles champion by a score of 8 to 5 while Alli Shelton fought tooth and nail in a 9 to 7 loss. With the win, the Lady Raiders will take on the winner of tonight’s Tullahoma/Shelbyville match or Thursday or Friday. Stay tuned to Thunder Radio for the district championship match information.
