5/12/14 —- Dr. William Terrell (Terry) Moore

Dr. William Terrell (Terry) Moore, 69, of Tullahoma passed away on May 9, 2014.

He was born in Tampa, Fl on August 22, 1944, to the late Ovella Milbria King and  flower 12James William Moore.

He married Mary Jane Jewell Banta on July 25, 1970 in West  Lafayette, Indiana. He received his doctorate in Biological Sciences from Purdue  University in West Lafayette, Indiana and completed post doctorate studies at
the University of Pennsylvania. He worked as the director of environmental  services operations for ACS in Tullahoma and as program manager of environmental  services at General Physics corporation in Columbia, Md.

He was an active member  of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served others by helping
them with their genealogy. He loved music (especially cowboy music) and played  both the piano and cello. He loved gardening, fishing, woodworking and chocolate  chip cookies.

He is preceded in death by his son, Joseph Robert Banta.

He is  survived by Mary Jane Moore (spouse), daughters, Melissa Renee’ Banta (Sean),  Valerie Jewell Russell (Lyle) and Amanda Melanie Shackleford (Jonas), Conrad  Stout, who he thought of as a son, 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and  his faithful dog Ranger.

Anyone is welcome to attend graveside services on  Monday, May 12, at 10:00 am at Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma.

In lieu of  flowers, donations may be made online or by mail to Lewy Body Dementia  Association. 912 Killian Hill Road, S.W. Lilburn, Ga 30047.

5/12/14 —- Ray Whitmire

Ray Whitmire of Tullahoma, passed this life on Friday, May 9th, 2014 at his residence at the age of 84.

Mr. Whitmire was born in Gunnersville, Alabama to the late George Lee and Samantha Jane Lawson Whitmire.

Mr. Whitmire was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served during the Korean Conflict.

During his life, he worked as a Lineman with South Central Bell and was a member of Rutledge Falls Baptist Church, as well as the Telephone Pioneers.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Whitmire; five sisters, Irene Millaway, Juanita Collins, Beatrice Baker, Frances Gilliam, and Faye Doney; and one brother, George L. Whitmire.

Mr. Whitmire is survived by his step-son, Mike Thomas and his family of Fayetteville; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Whitmire will be held on Monday, May 12th, 2014 at 11:00 am at Kilgore Funeral Home with graveside services following at 12:00 pm at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Rev. Charles Houston officiating.

5/14/14 —- SAMUEL GRANT BOWLING

SAMUEL GRANT BOWLING, age 66, of Winchester, Tenn., departed this life on Friday, May 09, 2014, at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Bowling was born on Feb. 14, in Sewanee, Tenn., to the late Sam and Lila Grant Bowling.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winchester.  Mr. Bowling was employed for approximately thirty-seven years as an X-Ray Technician.  His last employment was with Emerald-Hodgson Hospital in Sewanee. His favorite hobbies were collecting antique cars and tractors.  Mr. Bowling will be remembered as a loving and caring brother and uncle.

He is survived by his brother, Edward Bowling and wife, Christine, sister, Faye Carter and husband Joe all of Winchester, nieces and nephews; Cristy Bowling, David Hoffmeister, Dianna Sheely and Philip Hoffmeister.

A Graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, May 14, at Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester with Hospice Chaplin Jack Nichols, officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in Mr. Bowling’s memory to First United Methodist Church in Winchester or the Franklin County Historical Society at P.O. Box 130, Winchester, TN  37398.

5/12/14 —- NARVLEEN DODSON JUDGE

NARVLEEN DODSON JUDGE, age 84, of Winchester, Tenn., departed this life on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Southern TN Regional Health System Winchester following a brief illness.

She was born on January 27, 1930, in Huntland, Tenn., to the late Oscar and Annie Henshaw Dodson.

Mrs. Judge was a Baptist and last attended Keith Springs Baptist Church.  Before becoming a full time homemaker Mrs. Judge was employed for several years as a teacher’s aide and had also worked at Genesco for a short time. She loved the outdoors and watching the squirrels and birds in her yard.  Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Judge of Winchester, sons; Victor Judge of Nashville, Larry Judge and wife Kathy of Winchester, grandchildren; Katie Copeland and husband Drew of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Kaley Judge, of Winchester, sister, Ventrice Yokley also of Winchester, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 P.M.  Monday, May 12, at Owens Chapel Cemetery in Winchester with Bro. Johnny Ray Bradford officiating.

5/10/14 — Ronnie S. Rutledge

rutledgeMr. Ronnie S. Rutledge, age 65, passed away Friday, May 9th, at the Life Care Center of Tullahoma. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 10 at 2:00 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Foster Cemetery in Lincoln County. Visitation with the family will be 10:00 AM until service time.
Mr. Rutledge a native of Lincoln County the son of Wallace Sanford Rutledge and Mabel Eva Farrar Rutledge of Petersburg, TN. Mr. Rutledge was a truck driver. He enjoyed his pets, playing guitar and banjo as well as watching TV.
Mr. Rutledge is preceded in death by his father Wallace Rutledge. He is survived by his mother, Mabel Eva Rutledge of Peterburg; three daughters, Vivian Rutledge of Manchester, Audrey Rutledge of Manchester and Amanda Sutton and her husband Ernie of Shelbyville; one sister Peggy Dunivan and her husband James of Petersburg, TN.; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

5/10/14 — Sybil Haley

haleyFuneral services for Mrs. Sybil Haley, age 88, of Manchester, will be
conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Manchester Funeral Home
Chapel with Bro. Ralph Hart officiating.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill
Memorial Gardens.  Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 PM until
8:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.  Mrs. Haley passed away Wednesday at
St. Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro.

Mrs. Haley was born in Coffee County, the daughter of the late Aubrey and
Mary Rogalle Taylor.  She was a homemaker and also worked as a clerk for
Paris Department Store.  She was a member of Pocahontas Church of Christ and
loved reading, gardening, sewing, and cooking.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Haley was also preceded in death by her
loving husband, Cecil Haley.  She is survived by several cousins and many
friends.

5/10/14 — Susan Katherine Nash Sparks

Funeral services for Susan Katherine Nash Sparks, age 57, of Manchester, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Allen Adams and Bro. Stan McCullough officiating.

Burial will follow in Holland Hill Cemetery. 

Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. 

Susan passed away Wednesday morning at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

 
Susan was born in Murfreesboro, TN, the daughter of John (Dot)  Nash and the late Helen Perry Nash. 

She was employed as a caretaker and enjoyed flowers and butterflies.  The greatest love of her life was spending time with her family.

 
In addition to her mother, Susan was also preceded in death by an infant son, John Patrick; a sister, Ruby Yates; her great nephew, Ashlin Wade Prince; and her grandparents, Cleo and John Mitt Nash and Mable and Johnny Perry. 

She is survived by one daughter, Tanya (Brian) Nash of Manchester; one son, Danny (Callie) Sparks of Estill Springs; one sister, Sandy (Jeff) McCullough of Manchester; four grandchildren, Dustin Burgess, Bianca Dewitt, Emma Rae Sparks, and Cayden Rollins; and one great grandchild, Ivery Burgess; and many nieces and nephews; and two step-sisters, Marie and Wanda Jernigan.

5/5/14 —- William David Jessee

Mr. William David Jessee, age 62, of Tullahoma, TN, passed away Monday morning, May 5, 2014, at Harton Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Middlesboro, KY., and was the son of the late William and Irene Bell Jessee.

He was a brick layer and loved his work.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Vanda Lee Jessee, sons William Michael (Andrea) Morgan and James Norman (Lorie) Morgan of Lowell, IN., grandchildren Nicole, Trisha, and William Morgan, brother Kenneth Morgan, sisters Brenda Noe, Mrs. Morgan, and Loretta Bolden.

5/9/14 —- Oma Lee “Bunt” Gore Durm

Oma Lee “Bunt” Gore Durm age 85 of Lynchburg, passed away Wednesday May 7, 2014 at her home.

A native of Moore County , she was the daughter of the late Arthur Lee Gore and Nancy Ann Hall Gore.

She was a homemaker and a member of Arbor Primitive Baptist Church and family was everything to her.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 5-9 PM at Lynchburg Funeral Home.

Services will be held on Friday May 9, 2014 at 3 PM at the Lynchburg Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Burkhalter and Bro. Keith Shelton officiating.

Burial will follow at Beech Hill Cemetery.

She is survived by her sons, Steve Durm and wife Roxanne of Lynchburg, Nick Durm of Stone Mountain, GA and Tim Durm and wife Dana of Baxter, TN, daughters; Donna Tucker and husband Danny of Lynchburg and Leeann Durm of Lynchburg, grandchildren; Nicole Arnold and husband of Wartrace, tara Parks and husband Scott of Lynchburg, Wendy Grayson and husband Jay of Lynchburg, Sonya Long and husband David of New Johnsonville, Tn, Valerie Cates and husband Bret of Lynchburg, Timothy Durm and girlfriend Eleanor Whitehurst of Mount Jackson, VA and Jake Durm of Nashville and nine great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband Orval Durm.
