8/13/16 — Tommy Carol Nettles

Funeral services for Mr. Tommy Carol Nettles will be conducted on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brandon Stutts officiating and full military honors. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, August 12, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Mr. Nettles passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Nettles was a Vietnam War veteran and was a retired Master Sgt. serving in the United States Army. He was also retired from the United States Postal Service. He was an avid fisherman, and attended Faith Free Will Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by his parents, Wyatt A. Nettles, Sr. and Ruth Kinney Nettles; his wife, Ruby Nettles. Survived by his son, John Nettles (Dani); step-son, Jeff Burks (Michelle); step-daughters, Cotanda Burks and Attonda Barnes (Rickey); brothers, John Robert Nettles (Betty), Wyatt A. Nettles, Jr. (Janet); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Phillip David Jones

Philip David Jones, 73, a resident of Manchester passed away on August 9,
2016 at Golden Living of Winchester. No services are scheduled.

A native of Kennett, Missouri, he was the son of the late Cecil and
Constance Adams Jones. He was a U S Navy veteran, serving for 28 years as
an Air Traffic Controller. After retiring from the Navy, he enjoyed buying,
renovating and remodeling older homes. He enjoyed watching football and
baseball games.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Sean
Michael Jones

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Patricia Jones of Manchester, two sons,
Philip David Jones Jr and his wife, Sally of Charleston, SC and Gary James
Jones of Manchester; two daughters, Lisa Marie Jones of Manchester and
Kimberly Christine Jones of Blackstone, VA; four grandchildren, Joseph
Michael and Jonathan Jones, both of Charlottesville, VA, Christopher Andrew
and Kasey Ellen Pennington, both of Blackstone, VA and one great
grandchild, Sean David Jones.

8/12/16–Roberta Anspach

Anspach, Roberta M., of Tullahoma, passed this life on Monday, August
8th, 2016 at NHC in Tullahoma at the age of 87. Mrs. Anspach was born in
Harviell, Missouri to the late Robert O. and Bonnie Cunningham Marlin.
During her life she worked as an Engineering Aide at Arnold Engineering
Development Center and also worked as a Secretary at U.T.S.I. as well as
First Christian Church in Tullahoma, where she was a member. In addition
to her parents, Mrs. Anspach was preceded in death by her husband, Gene
Anspach; one brother, John Marlin; and one sister, Ardys Pyles. She is
survived by two sons, Keith Anspach of Tullahoma, and Greg Anspach and
his wife Carol of Winchester; two grandchildren, Allison Carpenter and
her husband Will and Kyle Anspach and his wife Alyse; one great
granddaughter, Audrey Kate Carpenter; and one brother, Robert O. Marlin
of Galveston, Texas. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12th, 2016
from 12:00-2:00pm with the funeral service to immediately follow at
2:00pm with Pastor Caren Teichmann officiating. Burial will follow at
Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma.

8/11/16 — G W Lawson

G W Lawson, 78, a resident of Tullahoma, passed away on Monday, August 8,
2016 at Tennova Healthcare-Harton.  Graveside services are scheduled for
Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 12 PM at Bethany Cemetery with Bro. David Wall
officiating.

A native of the Awalt Community of Franklin County, he was the son of the
late Clarence and Effie Mae Evans Lawson.  He served in the U S Marines
during the Korean War and then served in the National Guard until 1961.  He
was a machinist and retired from Goodrich. He was an avid fisherman and a
Green Bay Packers fan.  He especially enjoyed spending time with family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo
Holder Lawson; five brothers, James, Doyle, Frank, Clarence and Lacy Lawson
and two sisters, Frances Thomas and Bessie Lawson.

Mr. Lawson is survived by one son, George Timothy Lawson and his wife,
Debbie of Shelbyville; two daughters, Lisa Kane and her husband, Robert of
Tullahoma and Christina Hillis and her husband, Earl of Winchester; one
brother, Tony Lawson and his wife, Mary of Tullahoma; six grandchildren,
Father Adam Kane of Knoxville, Allison McGehee and her husband, Casey of
Fayetteville, Amy Cunningham and her husband, Nick of Tullahoma, Andrew and
Abby Lawson, both of Shelbyville and Lawson Hills of Winchester; two great
grandchildren, Lucas McGehee and Aubrey Cunningham and many nieces and
nephews.

8/11/16 — Ruth Haggard Peek

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Haggard Peek will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 6:00 P.M. at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Reverend Jim Parks officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A private interment with the family will be conducted on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Peek passed from her earthly home on Sunday, August 7, 2016.

 

Ruth Haggard Peek was born on May 13, 1923 in Manchester. As the fourth child of Will and Mary Della Haggard, she spent her childhood in the Asbury and Ragsdale communities. She was employed by Start Union (the pajama factory) beginning at age fifteen. She married George Peek in 1941. When George was drafted into WWII, she moved with him to various army training camps at first alone and later with their infant daughter. When he was deployed to Germany, she returned to Manchester and spend the next nineteen years as a homemaker and raising their four children. When he youngest son reached school age, she returned to work at PCA and continued working until 1990. After her retirement, Ruth took great pleasure in taking care of her home and large wooded yard. She loved to cook for her family, especially Sunday afternoon dinner meals, and entertained on many occasions with family reunions in her backyard. She was an excellent seamstress and during the last fifteen years of her life hand pieced and quilted numerous beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren. She was a founding member of Forest Mill Baptist Church, and in later years was a faithful member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

 

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Della Haggard; husband, George at age 56 in 1978; her beloved youngest son, Rickey Wayne who passed away at age 52 in 2008; two sisters and brother-in-law, Jean Haggard Brown and Fred, Geraldine Haggard Elrod and Elmer; five brothers and three sister-in-laws, Lewis and Francis Haggard, Woodrow and Hazel Haggard, Leo Haggard, Raymond and Edith Haggard, Wendell Haggard. Ruth is survived by her three children, Brenda Peek Vickers (Larry), Winfred Peek (Phyllis), Gale Peek Scivally; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Caroline, Heath, Josh, Katie, Hunter and Chance; six great-grandchildren, Alicia, Jonas, Avery, Grace, Brandon, Stephani and Nicole.

 

For the last three years she was a resident of McArthur Manor in Manchester. She and her family were truly blessed to have known and experienced the kind, loving, compassionate care providers and residents who were her family and friends. A special thank you to Dr. Stephen Bills (30 years) and Sun Crest Health Care, especially Physical Therapist Holly Johnson, for their excellent care and friendship.

Judy Robinson

Judy A Robinson, 61, a resident of Tullahoma, TN passed away on Monday,
August 8, 2016 at Life Care Center in Tullahoma.  Memorial Services will be
scheduled at a later date.

A native of Tullahoma, she was the daughter of the late Jesse G and Annie
Florence Hall Moore.  She was a caregiver, always taking care of
everyone.  She
enjoyed reading and studying her Bible.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her companion in
life, James Jones and seventeen brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Ashley Brinkley and her husband, Benny of
Tullahoma; three sisters, Linda Milligan and her husband, Robert of
Manchester, Faye Carlson and Mary Friel, both of California; one
grandchild, Bryanna Brinkley and many nieces and nephews.

8/10/16—Thomas Edward Harris

Harris, Thomas Edward, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Monday, August
8th, 2016 at NHC Tullahoma at the age of 73. Mr. Harris was born in
Bedford County to the late Ervin and Opal Throneberry Harris. During his
life he worked in General Assembly at Wilson Golf. In addition to his
parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Harris;
and one sister, Judy Harris. He is survived by two sons, Clint Harris and
his wife Trisha of Murfreesboro and Benjie Harris of Las Vegas, Nevada;
one daughter, Pam Waggoner and her husband Tim of Tullahoma; two sisters,
Mary Boyles and her husband Ronnie of Estill Springs, and Elaine Warren
of Tullahoma; one brother, Dickie Harris of Manchester; and five
grandchildren, Macy Harris, Brayden Harris, Conner Harris, Colton Harris,
Liam Waggoner and Ella Waggoner. Visitation will be held on Wednesday,
August 10th, 2016 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 12:00-2:00pm with the
funeral service to immediately follow at 2:00pm with Rev. David Wall
officiating. Burial will follow at Blanton Cemetery. For those who wish,
in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Harmony
Baptist Church, 1600 Spring Creek Road, Tullahoma, Tennessee 37388.

8/10/16—Betsy Ashburn Powers

Betsy Ashburn Powers, 81, a resident of Manchester, TN passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at McArthur Manor.
Funeral services will be held at Coffee County Funeral Chapel at 2pm on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 with visitation from 11am-2pm, burial to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
Betsy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A member of the East Main Street Church of Christ, Betsy enjoyed the beauty of nature and God’s creations. Having retired from the family business, she was an avid reader in past years and enjoyed spending time with her family and cousins.
Betsy was the daughter of the late Daniel and Amanda Ashburn and was born in Hillsboro, TN on June 26, 1935. She was preceded in death by her late husband Charles Eldon Powers Jr and her son, Charles Eldon Powers III. She is survived by a son, Daniel C. Powers and daughter Pamela Powers. Five grandchildren: Candace Powers, Courtnea (Josh) Wilhoite, Casie (Kyle) Martin, Natalie Hollis, and Emily Hollis. Also survived by three great grandchildren.

8/10/16 — Joyce Vassar

oyce Vassar, 76, a resident of Tullahoma, left this life on Saturday,
August 6, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Funeral
Services are scheduled for Wednesday, August 10 at 2 PM at Daves-Culbertson
Funeral Home with Rev. Martin S Nutter officiating.  Burial will follow at
Maplewood Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 12
PM until the service time.

A native of Tullahoma, she was the daughter of the late James Wesley and
Lois Cunningham Davis.  She loved life and enjoyed sewing, crafts and
collecting glass slippers and baskets.  Her favorite pastime was spending
time with her beloved family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mary
Elizabeth Davis, Karen Gipson and Faye Medley and lots of aunts and uncles.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Fred Vassar of Tullahoma; son, Snoopy
Vassar and his wife, Lorena of Tullahoma; goddaughter, Vicki Hines and her
husband, David of Tullahoma; Grandchildren, Ean and Hunter Vassar, Marina
Delray Vassar and Ali Kegg, all of Tullahoma, Great Grandson, Camden Kegg;
three brothers, Gary Davis and his wife, Melody and James Davis and his
wife, Gay, both of Tullahoma and Alan Davis and his wife, Paulette of
Hillsboro; three sisters, Darlene Ray and her husband, David, Brenda Petty
and her husband, Clyde and Linda Moulder and her husband, Avery, all of
Tullahoma; mother-in-law, Margaret Martin of Tullahoma; brother-in-laws,
Grady Vassar and his wife, Leona, Walt Gunne  and his wife, Allison and Jay
Lowe and his wife, Robbie, all of Tullahoma; several nieces and nephews and
special friend, James Stewart.

Robert Shane Jester

Robert Shane Jester, 41, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at Tennova Healthcare – Shelbyville. Memorial Services will be scheduled at a later time.
A native of Greenwood, MS, he was the son of the late Robert Durell Jester and Linda V Rickerson Jester of Ocoee, FL. He was a painter by trade and he enjoyed being outdoors fishing and camping. He loved music and enjoyed drawing and painting.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by girlfriend, Cheyenne Cammuse of Shelbyville; son, Robert Jester and his fiance, Crystal McDaniel of Shelbyville; daughters, Hannah Sullivan of Nashville and Leslie Jester of Antioch; brothers, Kenneth Wayne Jester, Bradley Powell and George Russell Jester, all of Nashville, Michael Jester of FL and Jamey Fore of Ocoee, FL; sisters, Misty Mitchell and her husband, Anthony of Flat Creek, TN, Marla, Sandra, Julie and Teresa Fore all of Ocoee, FL and sister-in-law, Rachel Marie Powell of Dekalb Co, TN.
