In their final home game before the Christmas break, Coffee County welcomed Franklin County to the Joe Frank Patch gymnasium looking for a season sweep over the Rebels. The girls did their part as they defeated a scrappy Rebelette squad 41 to 35. Franklin County made nine 3-pointers including one with 3:30 left in the game to give Franklin County a 33 to 32 lead. But Coffee County played great defense down the stretch and hit the crucial free throws to close out the game on a 9 – 2 run. Coffee County was led in scoring by Alaina Lusk with 17 points and Katie Reid had 12. The Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the game was Alaina Lusk. The win moved Coffee County’s record to 6 and 5 on the year and earned them a season sweep of the Rebelettes.

In boy’s action, Coffee County battled through some missed shots in the 1st half and trailed at the intermission 17 to 12. That deficit ballooned to 10 points forcing a timeout with just under 6 minutes to play in the 3rd. Out of the timeout, the Raider defense came alive and the offense found its rhythm. Brock Ivy-Bodman had a pair of steals and 10 points in the final 6 minutes of the 3rd quarter as Coffee County took a 28 to 24 lead into the 4th quarter closing out the 3rd on a 16 to 2 run. Coffee County went 11 of 12 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter to earn a hard fought 45 – 41 win. The win moved the Raiders record to 4 and 7 on the year and earned them a season sweep of Franklin County. The leading scorer for Coffee County was Lance Chrismond who had 18 points. Brock Ivy-Bodman had 10 points, all of which came in the huge 3rd quarter comeback and that performance earned him the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the game honors.

Tullahoma Man Threatens School With Violence

Tyrone Watts from an earlier arrest in Coffee County

A man is facing charges after police say he made threats at a school in Shelbyville. Police tell the Times Gazette that they responded to Thomas Magnet School when a man allegedly made threats in front of office staff last week. Tyrone Watts, 43, of Tullahoma is accused of saying that he would to return to the school with a gun. The alleged threat was made after school officials would not allow Watts and his wife to check his stepson out of school early. The request was denied because the child’s biological father had not supplied a letter of permission. Watts was charged with filing a false report and posted $10,000 bond. On Monday Watts was arrested again, this time on a charge of violation of probation. He is being held without bond at Bedford County Jail. Records show he was previously convicted of multiple felonies and is not allowed to possess a firearm. The felony convictions are for burglary and possession of marijuana in Coffee and Davidson counties. Watts is expected in court in January. He has also been banned from all Bedford County schools.
