On Senior Night the Coffee County Red Raiders were hoping to pull off a huge upset over Shelbyville. The Golden Eagles led by the one-two punch of QB Mason Cunningham and RB Michael Eddings plus their impressive defense defeated the Raiders 48-12. Cunningham threw 3 touchdown passes and Eddings rushed for two. Raider QB Alontae Taylor, had another great night with 234 yards on 27 carries, he now has 1,330 yards on the season. The CCMS 6th grade Red Raider basketball team avenged an early season loss to North Franklin on Thursday night at the CCMS gym. The Red Raiders used a balanced scoring attack, and a tenacious defense to drop the Gators of North 32 to 27. Coffee County Will Remain In 6A Football In 2015 & 2016
From a TSSAA release issued on Thursday morning, the Coffee County football team will play in Class 6A for the new classification period which begins in August, 2015. Class 6A features the 31 largest schools in enrollment, plus Maryville High School. Maryville, who was originally classified for Class 5A, but requested a move UP to Class 6A just ahead of Wednesday’s deadline. The soccer coaches of District 8AAA tabbed 5 Lady Raiders for their spectacular effort this past season. Senior Alex Ellison and sophomore Karson Young were named to the 1st Team All District 8AAA team while junior Izzy Huddleston and junior Maclay Brandon were named to the 2nd Team All District 8AAA team. The Coffee County Middle School 6th grade basketball teams traveled to Harris on Tuesday night bringing home a pair of convincing wins. The Lady Raiders continue to pummel the opposition as they bested Harris 43 to 8. After 4 games, the Lady Raiders have scored an average of 41 points per game while giving up just 14. Coffee County JV Football defeated Lincoln County Monday night by a final of 14 to 6. The 6th grade Lady Raider basketball team opened their first ever season in the new Coffee County Middle School gym with a convincing 50 to 16 win over Morrison on Monday night.
