Motlow Basketball Teams Had a Busy Weekend
The Motlow College Lady Bucks and Bucks basketball teams hosted Jackson St on Friday and Columbia St on Saturday. On Friday the Lady Bucks defeated Jackson St 75-66 in conference play. Motlow was led in scoring by Chloe Neil, Bree Horner and Sabrina Jackson with 12 points each. On Saturday the ladies of Motlow College jumped to a 32-29 advantage at halftime only to see Columbia St roar from behind to pick up a 77-63 win. Football Released At Franklin County
An area football team is looking for a new head coach. James Carr was fired as head coach of the Franklin County Rebels football team Wednesday. Dr. Rebecca Sharber, the director of schools, said she decided release Carr after a recommendation from Franklin County High School principal Greg Mantooth. She added that Carr will remain on staff as a teacher. Carr’s team finished the most recent season with a 3-7 record and was 21-30 during his five year stint, making the playoffs one...

The Coffee County Central High School girls’ soccer team celebrated their 2014 season with their end of year banquet on Tuesday night at the Manchester-Coffee County Conference Center. 6th Graders Continue To Win
The recipe for success for the 6th grade CCMS Lady Raider basketball team has been run their offense and play tenacious defense. On Tuesday night, the Lady Raiders used that combination together better than they have all year long in a 48 to 12 win over Harris Middle. Coffee County held Harris to no more than 4 points in each quarter as eight different Lady Raiders scored baskets. Bella Vinson was the high scorer on the night as she dropped 22 while Keri Munn continued her dominant post play with 8 points. Middle School Raiders Sweep South Franklin
The Raiders and Lady Raiders opened CTC play on Monday as they continued to build off their strong performances in last week’s Woodbury Border War. Both teams got close wins on the road as they squeaked by South Franklin. The Lady Raiders picked up a 32 to 31 comeback win over the Lady Trojans. The Westwood Lady Rockets saw a halftime lead give way to a furious Forrest rally on Monday night falling 26 to 23 in Chapel Hill. In a battle of Rocket teams, the Forrest Lady Rockets outscored the Westwood Lady Rockets 12 to 1 in the pivotal 3rd period to take a 22 to 13 lead into the 4th quarter.
