The Raiders and Lady Raiders opened CTC play on Monday as they continued to build off their strong performances in last week’s Woodbury Border War. Both teams got close wins on the road as they squeaked by South Franklin. The Lady Raiders picked up a 32 to 31 comeback win over the Lady Trojans. Alisha Jennings had 10 second half points to lead the Lady Raiders, including 4 in the 4th quarter. Julia Duncan also netted 10 points while Abby Morgan finished with 8 points. With the win, Coffee County improved to 4 and 0 on the young season.
Bouncing back from a finals loss on Saturday night, the Red Raiders opened conference play with a hard fought 23 to 20 win over the Trojans. The Red Raiders were hampered offensively by the physical play, but managed to shoot 11 of 14 from the free throw line to grind out the conference win. Weston Hargrove led the team with 6 points while Harley Hinshaw, Andrew Mahaffey and Briggs Haithcock all added 4 points each. With the win, the Red Raiders upped their record to 3 and 1 on the year.
The Raiders and Lady Raiders will host North Franklin on Thursday night for their 2014 home opener. Game time is 6:00 PM at the new CCMS gym.
