Brianna Jones pitched a one-hitter and had a homerun as the Coffee County softballers picked up a 9-0 win in five innings over Lake Zurich, Illinois on Friday in the Southern Classic in Murfreesboro. The big inning was the 3rd when the Lady raiders plated 8 of their 9 runs. Jones struck out 11 as she picked up her 7th win of the year. Duncan staked the CHS Red Raider baseball team to a 1 to nothing lead thru 3 innings of play as Coffee County played host to Warren County on Friday afternoon at Pwers Field. The Rockets baseball team of Westwood Middle School played their 3rd game of the week as they played host to Huntland on Friday evening at Looney Riddle Field at Fred Deadman Park. The Red Raider soccer team split their 2 games on Friday in Alabama as they opened play in the Gulf Shores tournament. The Raiders won a literal slug fest with Madison County, AL in their morning contest by a score of 3 to 0, before dropping the second game to the tournament host, Gulf Shores 5 to 1. Bell and Jones Lead The Lady Raiders To Their 6th Win
Thursday was another solid day for Coffee County pitcher Brianna Jones as she threw a no-hitter in the Lady Raiders 8-0 victory over Zion-Benton, Illinois in tournament action in Murfreesboro. No Zee-Bee batter was able to locate Jones’ pitches during the game. Jones threw a no-hitter, striking out 10 batters and walking none while recording her 2nd no-hitter of the year. After a sluggish start to the baseball season, the Motlow Bucks have begun turning their campaign around following a sweep of the Roane State Raiders over the weekend at the Driver Baseball Complex on the Moore County campus. The Bucks (8-17, 5-7) travel to Gallatin this weekend for a three-game series with Volunteer State. Banging out 10 hits for the game and scoring 2 runs in the top of the first inning is usually a recipe for success for the CHS Red Raider baseball team. Lady Bucks Softball Playing Well
The Motlow Lady Bucks got a pair of shutout pitching performances from freshman Cameron Pearson and won three out of four games from TCCAA rival Roane State last weekend. The series win came on the heels of a doubleheader sweep of non-conference opponent Martin Methodist JV on Wednesday.
