Busy Weekend For Lady Raider Softball In Knoxville Tournament

The Coffee County Lady Raiders are competing in the Gibbs softball tournament in Knoxville Friday and Saturday at Caswell Park. Going into the bottom of the 7th (in the international tie-breaker) down 1-0 in a time-limit game against Farragut the Lady Raiders managed to score one run and end the game in a tie. Freshman Shelby Scrivnor got the game tying hit for Coffee County. She and Taylor Barnes had two hits each. Brianna Jones gave up four hits and had 15 strikeouts. CHS Baseball Plays Four Games In Clarksville

With 6 outs to go and a 5 to 3 lead, the Red Raider baseball team was poised to get a doubleheader sweep at Rossview on Friday night.  The home standing Hawks exploded for 7 runs to drop Coffee County by a final score of 10 to 5 in Coffee County’s 2nd game of the day.  Zach Holmes, Noah Anderson and Gavin Husted each had a pair of hits to lead the Coffee County attack. Coffee County Middle Soccer Splits a Pair of Games on Friday

The Coffee County Middle School soccer team split a pair of makeup conference games in McMinnville on Friday.   In the opening game, the Raiders got a hat trick from Drake Medina to drop the White County 5 to 1.  Medina got goals in the 8th and 27th minutes while Chay Chumley added a goal in the 12th minute to stake the Red & Black to a 3 to 0 halftime lead.  Briggs Haithcock added a goal in the 34th minute before Median added his 3rd goal at the 38 minute mark.   Haithcock and Anakin Dillaha were credited with assists...

The Westwood and Coffee County Middle School golf teams opened the 2015 season on Thursday at Bear Trace taking on North & South Franklin’s teams. The CCMS boys shined as their 4 returning starters carded 4 of the lowest 5 nine hole scores on the day. Austin Farris and Samuel Prater led the way as each of them shot a 42. Taylor Barnes Triples Coffee County To a Win Over Shelbyville

Brianna Jones struck out 15 batters to lift the Coffee County Lady Raiders to a 3-2 win over Shelbyville. Jones racked up two RBIs with her 4th homer of the year in the first inning. Shelbyville tied the game in the 6th at two runs each. In the bottom of the 7th Shelby Scrivnor singled and Taylor Barnes ripped a triple to right field to give the Lady Raiders the win. Prep Tennis Results From Wednesday

In Prep tennis action on Wednesday, continual improvement was the word of the day. In high school tennis, the Lady Raiders and Red Raiders traveled to Tullahoma to take on their cross-county rival Wildcasts. In girl’s play the Coffee Co girls swept the Lady Wildcats of Tullahoma by a score of 7-0. Winning scores were Karlee Reed( 8-5). Alex Crossland( 8-6), Maddie Taylor( 8-1), Savannah Hodge(8-4) and Kayla Wright(8-3) in singles play. In doubles action, the teams of Reed/Taylor and Crossland/Hodge each won their matchups. Brianna Jones hopes every outing could go as well as Wednesday, as Jones tossed a shutout to carry the Coffee County Lady Raiders to a 3-0 victory over District 8-AAA foe Columbia Central. A 2 run home run in the top of the 7th inning and an RBI fielder’s choice in the top of the 9th for Columbia lifted the Lions to a 5 to 4 come from behind victory over Coffee County on Wednesday night at Powers Field.
