Police Looking For Suspect Last Seen In Coffee County
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the assistance of any citizen who can provide information as to the whereabouts of David Paul Zwarton. He is wanted in Franklin County on charges of Violation of Probation and Aggravated Burglary and is also facing charges in Rutherford County for a series of burglaries. Authorities believe that Zwarton was last seen traveling in a black Nissan Maxima in the Prairie Plains area of Coffee County, TN. Man Busted For Drugs and More In Manchester
A Manchester man was arrested last Wednesday by Manchester Police on drug charges. Tony L. Meeks of Powers Road, Manchester was charged with manufacture/sale/delivery of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. According to a report by Officer Danny Ray, police received a call about a white mini-van driving erratic on Highway 41 south. The caller stated that the van, which Meeks was the driver of, allegedly, swerved into the ditch several times and almost hit several vehicles traveling in the north bound lane. Three Men Arrested On Drug Charges
On Friday August 15th at approximately 2:00am. Franklin County Sheriff’s Office personnel in conjunction with the Estill Springs Police Department conducted a search at 2335 Safehaven Circle Estill Springs, TN. The search of the residence resulted in authorities discovering components consistently used in the production of methamphetamine as well as white powder, believed to be methamphetamine. Motlow Has Information On a Free College Education
Tennessee high school seniors who complete their Tennessee Promise application by Nov. 1 and graduate from high school next spring will have the opportunity to attend Motlow College tuition-free beginning with the fall 2015 semester. The Tennessee Promise is available to Tennessee high school seniors throughout the Motlow College 11-county service area, without an academic or income requirement. Unemployment Rate Up In Tennessee
Tennessee Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips has announced the Tennessee preliminary unemployment rate for July was 7.1 percent, five tenths of one percentage point higher than the 6.6 June revised rate. The U.S. preliminary rate for July was 6.2 percent, up from 6.1 percent in June. Over the past year, Tennessee’s unemployment rate decreased from 8.4 percent to 7.1 percent while the national rate declined from 7.3 percent to 6.2 percent. Total nonfarm employment increased 3,300 jobs from June to July. The largest increases occurred in mining/logging/construction, financial activities, and retail trade. We have an update on a story we brought you on August 7. Three people were arrested in connection with multiple burglaries that have occurred in several counties. Johnny Jones of Lynchburg was booked into the Moore County Jail, Ernest Feinstein also of Moore County was booked in at the Bedford County Jail and Jessica Reed of Shelbyville was charged in Lincoln County in connection with multiple burglaries. They showed courage and heart while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, and now that same grit and determination is on display at the 34th annual National Veterans Wheelchair Games. Some 600 veterans with disabilities representing states across the nation – including Tennessee – are taking part in the games this week. Manchester Fire & Rescue, along with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, will celebrate working for 60 years with firefighters with the annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign to benefit children and adults affected by muscle disease. Due to a city ordinance firefighters postponed yesterday’s start to the fundraising and changed locations. Manchester Fire & Rescue members will be out with their boots on August 15-17 at the entrances to Wal-Mart from 9am-5pm.
