A Manchester man was arrested last Wednesday by Manchester Police on drug charges.
Tony L. Meeks of Powers Road, Manchester was charged with manufacture/sale/delivery of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
According to a report by Officer Danny Ray, police received a call about a white mini-van driving erratic on Highway 41 south. The caller stated that the van, which Meeks was the driver of, allegedly, swerved into the ditch several times and almost hit several vehicles traveling in the north bound lane.
The person who called the communication center about the van then called and said that it was parked at the Sonic. Officers Ray and Dustan Foster then pulled in behind the van and attempted to get the driver out of the vehicle but he would not get out. They finally were able to get him out of the vehicle.
Once outside the vehicle they found a baggie containing several pills, 2 grams of marijuana and a metal pipe. They also found $570 in cash in his wallet.
Meeks was booked into the Coffee County Jail under a bond of $27,500. He is scheduled to appear in Coffee County General Sessions Court Sept. 9.
