In the early hours of November 11 the Tullahoma Animal Shelter brought in a 10 yr old mare Quarter Horse. The Tullahoma Animal Shelter has searched and searched for the owner. She was originally in the Jennings Point subdivision and then was caught by the Tullahoma Police Department for the shelter to pick up in the Riley Creek area. If anyone knows of anyone in this area missing a horse please contact the Tullahoma Animal Shelter at (931) 454-9580. If not, she will be eligible for adoption on Wednesday morning. Multi-State Credit Card Theft/Fraud Scheme Stopped In Manchester
This past Friday (11/14/14), Manchester Police seized a vehicle and numerous items inside the vehicle related to a credit card theft/fraud scheme. The scheme has been linked to several states and several thousand dollars in merchandise purchased with the stolen cards and identities. Three suspects were attempting to use a fraudulent card at Rite-Aid in Manchester to purchase pre-paid cards. Manchester Police Department officers located the suspects and notified other agencies for their assistance. Armed Robber Hits Again
For the second time in a week an area business was robbed at gunpoint. On Monday Tims Ford Liquor store on the Cowan Hwy in Winchester was held up. The person involved in the crime was described as being a black male holding a black handgun and he was wearing a black mask. The man forced the clerk into a backroom and then took an undisclosed amount of money and fled. Winchester Police is investigating and searching for the suspect. Two Republican State Senators Want To Repeal Common Core
Two Republican state senators have filed legislation to repeal the state’s Common Core standards. The measure would set up a so-called Tennessee Standards Commission that would recommend to the State Board of Education standards to be used in the state’s K-12 public schools. Senate Education Committee Chairwoman Dolores Gresham and Senate Government Operations Committee Chairman Mike Bell say the move is designed to ensure Tennessee students continue to improve by applying the highest standards, while exerting state control over education. Women’s Self-Defense Class At Manchester City Hall
The Manchester Police Department will be teaching a “Women’s Self-Defense Class” targeting Real Estate Agents in and around our community. Due to the number of assaults in recent years that have been aimed at real estate agents, police feel like this could be a “life-saving” course to provide. Holiday Concert At Motlow
Motlow College’s Moore County campus will host its annual Holiday Concert on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. inside Eoff Hall’s Powers Auditorium. For the first time in the event’s history, the concert will have a second show on Sunday, Dec. 7, starting at 2 p.m. The concert will feature the Motlow brass ensemble, the Motlow vocal ensemble and the Motlow community band. Manchester Firemen Battle Saturday Morning Blaze
Saturday Morning (11/15) at approximately 6:40am, Manchester Fire and Rescue responded to a camper trailer on fire. The location of the fire was the corner of Country Club Dr and the Murfreesboro Hwy. (Hwy 41). Upon arrival, fire crews found a 5th wheel style camper trailer on fire. The only occupant of the camper was outside the trailer so fire crews concentrated on extinguishing the blaze. Coffee County Sheriff’s deputies and Manchester policemen blocked Murfreesboro Hwy at Country Club Drive due to a fire hose being laid across the roadway.
