Motlow College’s Moore County campus will host its annual Holiday Concert on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. inside Eoff Hall’s Powers Auditorium. For the first time in the event’s history, the concert will have a second show on Sunday, Dec. 7, starting at 2 p.m.
The concert will feature the Motlow brass ensemble, the Motlow vocal ensemble and the Motlow community band. The students and the community members will be performing a wide array of musical styles and holiday standards. A special part of the show will include a medley from the Disney animated film “Frozen”.
Dr. David Bethea, instructor of music at Motlow, will be conducting the concert with assistance from Bobbie Underwood, secretary of academic affairs. The concert is free to the public, but reservations are required due to limited seating.
“There will be something for everyone in the concert,” said Bethea. “Since it will be in the beginning of the holiday season, maybe we can put everyone in the holiday spirit.”
Members of the vocal ensemble include Megan Bearden, Shelby Cox, Ashton Earle, Gabrielle Fulkerson, Jonathon Gerard, Rachel Judge, Jessica Goodine, Laura Kingery, Ashley Ramsey, Whitney Shelton, Christopher Smith, John Smotherman, Morgan Steelman, Zeb Swerske, Caitlin Tripp, Kathryn Vincent, Abigail Headrick, Ariel Upson, Jonathan House, Rosa Romo, Weston Foster, and Jeanna Anderson.
Community Band members include Hannah Comer, Ashton Earle, Alexander Floyd, Jonathon Gerard, Lacey Hamilton, Andrew Howell, Timothy Owens, Ashley Parker, Brooke Smedley, Christopher Smith, Ryan Springer, Bailey Wiser, Stephenie Tucker, Anthony Dzubiak, Kyle Edinger, Zackary Fair, Johnathan House, Matthew Rudder, and Bradley Scarlett.
There will be a reception an hour prior to each show. Santa Claus, the Grinch, and the snowman Olaf from “Frozen” will all make an appearance at each reception.
