Coffee County continues to play very well against Tullahoma athletics. The Lady Raiders defeated Tullahoma’s Lady Cats last night (Sept. 18, 2012) 3-1. Katie Reid continues to play outstanding soccer scoring two goals and Tasha Anderson had the other score.

Coffee County Gets Volleyball Win
Coffee County defeated Fayetteville High School in straight sets on Monday night in high school volleyball action at Joe Frank Patch Gym. Set scores were 25 – 18, 25 – 9, and 25 – 12. Coffee County was led in Kills by Katelyn Husted with 5, in aces by Brittney Williams, Brooke Carter and Katelyn Husted with 6, and in assists by Brittney Williams with 8. Brittney Williams and Katelyn Husted were named Gateway Tire and Service Center Co-Players of the Game. Coffee County travels to McMinnville on Tuesday night to take on Warren County in an important District 6-AAA match. First serve will be at 6 at Warren County High. Coffee County is back at home on Thursday night as they take on Grundy County. We will have that broadcast on Thunder Radio beginning at 6.

San Diego Charges Past Titans
The game started bad and got worse as the Tennessee Titans lost to the San Diego 38-10 yesterday (Sept. 16, 2012). The Chargers led 17-3 at half and never looked back dropping the Titans to 0-2.
Tennessee continues to struggle running the ball finishing with 38 yards total with QB Jake Locker leading the way with 21. Locker was 15-30 passing for 174 yards one TD and one INT.
The Titans are at home this Sunday as Detroit comes calling.
Vandy Wins Big
Looking for its first win of the season, Vanderbilt put together a dominating performance Saturday, defeating Presbyterian 58-0 at Vanderbilt Stadium in a game you heard on Thunder Radio.
Vandy improved to 1-2, while Presbyterian fell to 1-2.
Zac Stacy totaled 174 yards on eight carries. Brian Kimbrow had 137 yards on 14 carries. It marked the first time Vanderbilt had two running backs rush for more than 100 yards since 2009. Wesley Tate also had two rushing touchdowns and Warren Norman added another. For Norman, he received his first carries since the 2010 season, finishing with 26 yards on eight attempts.
Vanderbilt returns to the field Saturday when it travels to Georgia to play the Bulldogs.

Coffee County Volleyball Plays Host To Tournament
Coffee County will host Fayetteville City tonight at 6pm and you’ll hear it live on Thunder Radio.
Bad Night For The Big Red
Coffee County Head Coach Lee Davis said his team lacked the energy they played with the week before in a loss Friday night (Sept. 14, 2012) at home to White County.
The Raiders (0-4 overall, 0-1 District 6-AAA) fell behind 6-0 but took a slim 7-6 lead into the half. The Raider TD came on a 13-yard strike from Peyton Meeker to Jesse Brown. David Morgan’s extra point gave the Red Raiders their first lead with 0:35 left.
White County scored the winning touchdown on its opening possession of the second half. Facing a fourth and 14 on the Coffee County 39 yard line, Warrior running back Blake Lynn connected to Ben Howard at the 2 yard line. The pass was tipped by Raider defensive back Hunter Smithson, but Howard still managed to pull down the catch. White County QB Jake Young scored on the next play making the final score White County 12 to the Red Raiders 7. It was the Warriors first win of the year.
Coffee County QB Peyton Meeker finished 13 of 22 for 157 yards with one touchdown and an interception. Gateway Tire and Service Player of the Game Jesse Brown had over 90 yards in receiving and a touchdown.
The Raider offense struggled to gain yardage in the second half. Coffee County ended the night with just 197 yards of total offense, 53 of which came in the second half.
Coffee County (0-4 overall, 0-1 District 6-AAA) will play host to the (3-2) Independence Eagles on Friday night at Carden-Jarrell Field.

Hollee Sadler Will Play For State Golf Championship
The Coffee County girls ended the season with an overall record of 54-23.
In boys play Coffee County shot 314 as a team falling by 16 shots to the winners from Cookeville. Kyle Johnson who finished one shot short of making the state tournament led the way with a 74. Andy Stout had a 79 and Matt Johnson 80. Seniors Justin Mooneyham and Garrett Adams wrapped up their high school play with 81 and 85 respectively. The Raiders complete an impressive year with an overall record of 72-29.
Lady Raiders Get District Win
Coffee County beat Cumberland County 3 sets to 0 last night (Sept. 13, 2012). Scores were 25-8, 25-15 and 25-13. Haley Banks and Kelsey Munn each had 5 Kills. Haley Banks and Katelyn Husted led in aces. Hollie Moore was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the game as she had 14 assists, 3 aces and a kill. Coffee County’s record improves to 8 and 7 and 2 and 2 in District play. Coffee County hosts the 2nd Annual Southern Slam Tournament this weekend. They open against Tullahoma at 8 AM on Saturday, then play Chattanooga Christian at 10 AM, Franklin County at 1 PM and Lincoln County at 3 PM in Pool Play action. Single elimination begins at 6 PM with the championship scheduled for 10 PM. All games will be played at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym. Thunder Radio’s next broadcast will be Monday beginning at 6 PM as they play host to Fayetteville High.
