12/23/12 — Homer B. Kunz

Mr. Homer B. Kunz age 99 of Tracy City, Tennessee passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012.

He was born on July 28, 1913, a son of the late John Kunz and Marie M. Stamm Kunz and was preceded in death by his wife, June Kunz.

Mr. Kunz was a life long member of Christ Church Episcopal, a charter member of the Trail Blazers Jeep Club. He was a well known general contractor and worked for many years with Brice Construction Company, Inc.

Survivors include his children, John E. and his wife Anna Lee Kunz of Tracy City, Frederick (Fritz) Kunz of Tracy City, Lynda and her husband, Max Harper of Mt. Juliet, TN; grandchildren, Mary Shelton, Hans Kunz, Jason Harper, Nicolle Nunley, Cara Jones and Emmett Kunz.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Christ Church Episcopal with The Reverend Dr. Linda A. Hutton officiating.

Burial will be in the City Cemetery in Tracy City.

12/21/12 — Dorothy Russell

Mrs. Dorothy Russell, age 82, of Tullahoma, passed away Wednesday at Emeritus of Tullahoma.

She is a native of Cape Girardeau, MO and the daughter of the late Willard and Jenny Gosnell Moore. Mrs. Russell was a retire nurse. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, James Russell.

She is survived by her grandson, Wayne (Leslie) Bartz of Tullahoma, great grandchildren, Cody and Jada Bartz.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted Friday at 5:00PM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Elbert Smith officiating.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 2:00PM, Sunday, in the Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau, MO.

12/22/12 — James Edward “Ed” Clark

Funeral services for Mr. James Edward “Ed” Clark, age 78 of Manchester will be conducted Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Manchester with Dr. Brenton Cox officiating.

Burial will follow at New Reddens Cemetery in Coffee County with Military Honors.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Clark passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Manchester Health Care.

He was born January 26, 1934 in Belle Glade, Florida the son of the late Julius T. Clark and Maria Mock Clark.

Mr. Clark graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of Miami where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed for many years as a Civil Engineer in Florida prior to moving to Manchester in 1993. He was a member of the National Engineers Society, the Florida Association of Engineers as well as the Tennessee Association of Engineers. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Manchester. Mr. Clark was a United States Army veteran.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51years, Willie Ruth Clark of Manchester; three children, Kim Clark-Median and husband, Albert of Miami Springs, FL; Jim Clark and wife, Linda of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and Duane Clark and wife, Tina, also of Fort Lauderdale, FL; six grandchildren, Kelly, Julianna, Dylan, Logan, Reese and Will. Also surviving is a brother, Odrey Clark and wife, Linda of Hillsboro, TN and a sister, Linda Coston and husband, Benny of Virginia and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

The family requests memorial contributions be made in honor of Mr. Clark to the “Building People Fund” at First Baptist Church, 1006 Hillsboro Blvd., Manchester, TN 37355.

12/20/12 — Willard Guinn

Mr. Willard Guinn, age 78, of Tullahoma, passed away Sunday at his daughters residence in Shelbyville.

He is a native of Huntsville, AL and the son of the late Jess and Ruby Bell Farris Guinn. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Guinn.

Mr. Guinn worked at Eaton as a machine operator and attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Tullahoma.

He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Guinn of Cleveland, TN, Carolyn Beene of Cornersville, TN, Yvonne Massey of Fayetteville, TN, Chrisy Smith of Shelbyville, Rebecca Stewart of Bell Buckle, brothers, Junior, Charles, Hershel, Joe, sisters, Minnie, Mary Ann, Linda, and Faye, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00AM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel Pastor Elbert Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bethany Cemetery.

12/19/12 — Ann Louise Patterson

Mrs. Ann Louise Patterson, age 90, of Tullahoma, passed away Sunday at Harton Regional Medical Center.

She is a native of Canton Ohio and the daughter of the late Nick and Mary Visnick. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death her husband, Elbert Patterson, three sisters, Helen, Mildred, and Pauline and three brothers, Sam, Nick and Mike.

Mrs. Patterson was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Dellroy, OH where she and her family lived for many years before moving to Tullahoma.

The family request for those who wish donations be made to the Tullahoma Animal Shelter.

She is survived by a son, Warren (Debra) Patterson of Tullahoma, daughter, Barbara (Dale) Boydston of Cameron, MO, grandchildren, Tony (Jennifer) Patterson of Tullahoma, Terry (Audra) Minck of Kansas City, MO, Dawn Minck of Kansas City, MO, great grandchildren, Taylor Ashley Patterson, Ella Grace Patterson of Tullahoma, Kayla Ann Minck and Colton Minck of Kansas City, MO.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, from 11:00AM until 1:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

He is a native of Coffee Co., TN and was a Supervisor at George Dickel.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charlie Smithson and a son, Anthony Marlin.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Smithson of Normandy, mother, Katherine Smithson of Normandy, daughters, Donna Thompson of Normandy, Tracey Kilby of Murfreesboro, Lisa Spray of Tullahoma, son, Patrick Thompson of Normandy, sister, Charlene Haynes of Estill Springs and 5 Grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, from 5:00PM until 9:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00PM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Wall officiating.

12/15/12 — William Kaplan

 

William Kaplan, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Saturday, December 15th, 2012 at Harton Regional Medical Center at the age of 91.

Mr. Kaplan was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Isaac and Fannie Ferdman Kaplan.

During his life, he worked as Vice President of Systems Operations for the Pizitz Company and served in World War II for the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Molly Silver Kaplan; one son, Marc Lee Kaplan; and two brothers, Ray Kaplan and Earl Kraft.

Mr. Kaplan is survived by one daughter, Marcia Cowan and husband Richard of Tullahoma; one daughter-in-law, Ellen Kaplan of New York City; five grandchildren, Scott Cowan of Marlborough, MA, Brian Cowan and wife Stephanie of Montreal, Canada, Allison Green and husband Rod of Forrest Hills, NY, Michael Kaplan and wife Lori of Scarsdale, NY, and Debbie Garnock and husband Brian of Melville, NY; and six great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Penny, Gabi, Madison, Max, and Sydney.

The family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 201 West Lincoln Street Tullahoma, TN 37388 or to the Bnai Brith Men at Temple Emanu-El 2100 Highland Avenue, Birmingham, AL 35205.

12/18/12 — H. Adam Pewitt, Jr.

H.  Adam  Pewitt, Jr. age 28 of  Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on December 14, 2012.
Adam became  a Police Officer with the Murfreesboro Police Department in 2008 and was a  United States Marine Veteran from 2002 until 2006, serving one tour of duty in  Iraq. Adam  earned his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from  Motlow State Community College and was continuing his education for his  Bachelor’s Degree.
He will be fondly remembered as a devoted father, loving  husband, son, brother, grandson and nephew who had worked hard to fulfill his  dream of becoming a Police Officer to protect and serve other people. He enjoyed  singing, making people laugh and attending the New Hope Baptist Church in  Manchester.
Adam is survived by his loving wife, Sarah B. Griffin Pewitt and his  four year old son, Connor Pewitt of Manchester; parents, Hershel Adam Pewitt,  Sr. and Teresa Lynn Baxter Pewitt of Morrison, TN; maternal grandparents, Nellie  Gentry (Bert); paternal grandmother, Hattie Stanley; brother, Jonathan Pewitt  and his fiancee Alicia Inge of Morrison; nephews, Chantz Inge, Logan Inge and  Leo Pewitt; niece, Jaylanne Pewitt; mother-in-law, Julia Reed Davis (  Mike) of Manchester; father-in-law, Michael Griffin of Manchester; Jennifer West  (Derek) of Manchester; many aunts, uncles and other relatives;and a host of  friends.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 17, 2012 from 4:00 p.m.   until  8:00 p.m.

12/16/12 — Gordon Moore “Tag” Amburgey

Gordon Moore “Tag” Amburgey, age 86,  passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 at his home in Manchester, Tennessee  with his loving family by his side.

Mr. Amburgey was a retired Pharmacist and  owner of Amburgey’s Pharmacy in Manchester. He was also a World War II Navy  Submarine Veteran and a member of the First United Methodist Church in  Manchester.

He was born in Ashland, Kentucky to his parents, the late Lawrence  M. Amburgey and Vera E. Moore Amburgey and was also preceded in death by his  brother, Tommy Amburgey.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth  Burton Amburgey of Manchester, TN; daughter, Sheri Hyatt of Rockvale, TN; son,  Mike Amburgey of Manchester, TN; two grandchildren, Josh Woolum of Murfreesboro,  TN and Tanner Hyatt of Rockvale, TN; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Woolum and  Jaydin Woolum both of Murfreesboro, TN; and a host of friends.

Visitation with  the family will be on Saturday evening, December 15, 2012 from 5:00 p.m.   until  8:00 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be conducted on Sunday afternoon,  December 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with  Reverend Neal Glass officiating.

Interment  will follow at the Rose  Hill Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Deborah Saunders, age 57, of Tullahoma, passed away Thursday at Harton Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Hammond, IN and the daughter of the late John and Jean Haynes Hodge.

Ms. Saunders formerly worked at Wisco Envelope in Tullahoma and attended First Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her daughters, Melanie Ferrell Partin of Tullahoma, Brandi Jean Ferrell of Tullahoma, a son, William Arlin Ferrell II of Tullahoma, a sister, Pam Bland of Tullahoma, a brother, Donald Hodge of Tullahoma and two grandchildren, Destiny and Kirsti Ferrell.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, from 11:00AM until 2:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted Monday at 2:00PM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel Pastor Elbert Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hurricane Cemetery in Moore Co.
