Two More Arrested For Church Burglaries
“We received an anonymous tip of where some of the items taken in the burglaries could be found,” Lt. Jason Ferrell explained. “We then went to areas around Normandy Lake and followed up on the information.” The investigator also received information that one of the individuals was in possession of some of the stolen property. The investigators went to one of the residence and recovered a laptop and then followed up on other information received in the thefts. The investigators went to the Fire Lake area and with the assistance of Coffee County Deputy Dwayne Mullins recovered some of the items. The officers also recovered items in the Cascade Hollow Road area. According to investigators, they are continuing to investigate other church burglaries in the Tullahoma area.
Michael Cyree is currently being held in the Coffee County Jail on the burglary of Cedar Lane Church of Christ.
Two Grundy County Men Arrested By TBI
Two Grundy County men indicted in separate incidents have been arrested by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. One of the deputies shot Fults in the confrontation, and the TBI investigated that shooting. The other arrest was Wayne Charles Green, 26, of Tram Road in Tracy City. The TBI says Green was indicted on one count of theft over $60,000 in connection money missing from his former employer, Basham Industries. Former Mother Of Russian Boy Back In Court
The Tennessee woman who ended her Russian adoption by sending the 7-year-old boy to Moscow on a plane by himself has lost her bid to get a judge to set aside an order that she pay child support.
Torry Hansen made her first court appearance Friday in a case that began in April 2010 when she sent the boy away from her home Shelbyville with a letter that said he had violent behavior problems and she no longer wanted to be his mother.
Criminal charges were never filed but the World Association for Children and Parents adoption agency sued Hansen for child support.
Circuit Court Judge Lee Russell decided Friday to uphold the $150,000 in child support he ordered from Hansen. The boy now lives in a Russian group home.
Expert Warning On Child Abuse
Experts discovered an alarming statistic regarding children in Middle Tennessee and what happens to them during their spring and summer vacations.
It has officials concerned enough that they’re issuing a warning to parents.
More Middle Tennessee children are sexually abused during the spring and summer. Over the last 10 years data show’s there’s no question that more abused children are seen by professionals in the months of March through August – than any other months of the year. A spokesman from “Our Kids” an outpatient clinic at General Hospital in Nashville says the data comes from child sex abuse victims from 45 Middle Tennessee counties. She said the spike in abuse is not just season-specific, but month specific, when kids are typically on vacations.
On an average month they see 65 to 75 kids. During March, June and July it goes up to an average of 80 to 95. It’s extremely important to report abuse if you suspect it. In fact, in Tennessee, it’s required by law.
To report abuse you can call 1-877-237-0004.
