After his high school graduation in 1942, Dr. Young worked with the F.B.I. in Washington, D.C. In October of 1943, he began his 2 1/2 year service in the Army Air Corps during World War II, with some of that time spent in India and Burma as a radio operator on a C-46 aircraft. Dr. Young received an honorable discharge from the Army Air Corps on May 27, 1946. He then returned to his job with the F.B.I. in Washington but was later transferred to Memphis and then to Nashville.
In January 1947, Dr. Young followed the Lord’s leading to pursue a career in medicine and attended Peabody College and Vanderbilt University.
