Coffee County Classic

Friday was a big day for Coffee County Lady Raider Pitcher Brianna Jones. Brianna threw her 5th no-hitter of the season in the Coffee County 2-0 victory over Daniel Boone in the Coffee County Classic. She also struck out 10 batters.
Brianna boosted her batting average thanks to a perfect 2-2 day at the plate to pace the Lady Raiders. She singled in the first inning and homered in the third inning. Jones was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the game.

In Coffee County’s second game of the tournament they took on Chattanooga Central. The Coffee County Lady Raiders pulled out the win thanks to a strong sixth inning. Two errors on the same play scored Grace and Anna Spellings and gave the Lady Raiders the lead for good. Coffee County trailed 2-1 going into the 6th but scored 3 times for a 4-2 win.
The Lady Raiders were led by Brianna Jones’s hitting again. Brianna went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. She hit a long homer in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth inning.
Coffee County Central relied on Bethany Baker to eat up innings en route to the win. Bethany pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and 1 walk while striking out four.
Brittany Williams was named the player of the game.

Brianna Jones struck out 11 batters, but it wasn’t enough to carry the Coffee County Lady Raiders to a win on Saturday, as the Lady Raiders fell to Hendersonville 1-0 in six innings.
Hendersonville managed to score one run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Matti Byrd.
Jones was the player of the game.

In the single elimination part of the tournament Coffee County could not overcome errors and mental mistakes falling to Seymour 9-1. Down 2-1 in the final inning the Lady Eagles got the bases loaded with 2 outs. A mental mistake on a ground ball in the infield allowed Seymour to go up 3-1. The flood gates would open up and 6 more runs would score.
Brittany Williams who had 2 hits was the player of the game.

Baylor School from Chattanooga defeated Seymour for the championship.

Westwood opened play in the Big Southeast Conference Tournament on Saturday with a 9 to 1 defeat of Liberty. Lexi Medley had a 2 run home run for the Lady Rockets and it would be all the runs Westwood would need as Raven Rogers got the win striking out 6 in 6 innings of play while allowing only 2 hits. Carlee Sullivan pitched 1 inning of scoreless relief striking out 2. Rogers finished 3 for 3 with 3 RBI, Medley was 2 for 4 with 4 RBI and Haley Miller was 2 for 2 with a double.
In the 2nd game, Westwood took on the #2 seeded Cascade. Westwood got on the board first as Rogers scored in the top of the first inning on a Byanka Woods RBI groundout, but Cascade led 6 to 3 going into the 7th inning. Rogers and Medley scored as Woods had another RBI but the rally fell short as the Rockets were dropped into the elimination bracket by a final score of 6 to 5. Rogers finished with 3 hits, Destiny Spaulding had 3 walks and Mikayla Reel added an RBI for the Lady Rockets.
In the final game of the night, in the elimination bracket, Westwood disposed of Fayetteville by a final of 11 to 6. Rogers was 3 for 4 again with 4 RBI while striking out 11. Lexi Medley and Kristen Wray were also 3 for 4 on the night while Destiny Spaulding was 2 for 3 with a walk.

The Westwood softball season came to a close on Sunday afternoon in the semifinals of the Big Southeast Conference Tournament at the hands of the regular season champions Community by a final score of 11 to 1. Raven Rogers, Destiny Spaulding, Alexia Barnes and Mikayla Reel each had hits for Westwood in the game.
