What Are The 10 Most Affordable Places In Tennessee? Manchester Ranks 10th

manchester-signThe Movoto Real Estate blog has written an article about the 10 most affordable places in Tennessee to live. From the Smoky Mountains to Graceland, Tennessee has a lot to offer.
Despite being a large city, Memphis ended up being the best place to stretch your dollar. There were nine other places that stood out as being particularly cost friendly spots to call home.
The Movoto Real Estate blog made a list of places in Tennessee with more than 10,000 people according to the 2010 U.S. Census, which came out to 56 different places. They then used Census data to rank each place in six different categories:
• Food costs
• Utility costs
• Miscellaneous costs
• Median home price
• Unemployment rank
• Adjusted median income
Movoto gave all 56 places a score from 1 to 56 in each criterion, with one being the best. They averaged those rankings together into one Big Deal Score, and the place with the lowest average was No. 1.
Manchester was ranked 10th out of 56 in the report. Manchester is the home to 10,102 people, has good prices for all sorts of living expenses. The food cost ranked seventh, and the miscellaneous cost of living rank was a low 17th. Utilities costs were also not very expensive, and the unemployment rate was also good.
The main area in which Manchester showed off its affordability was in the median home price, which ranked 14th at only $101,600.
Music lovers will be happy to know that this place is home to the Bonnaroo Music festival, which attracts 100,000 people from all over the world, but the penny savers might not enjoy its high price tag. Instead, cheap fun can be found at the local recreation center, one of the numerous parks, or one of the many free family fun days.

Sophomore Luke Toms hit a walk-off home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the Motlow Bucks to a 7-6 win over Walters St. Saturday in the semifinals of the TCCAA/Region VII Tournament in Gallatin. With the win the Bucks advanced to Sunday’s championship game, where they fell to top-seed Columbia St 8-4. However, because Motlow (40-22) finished as the tournament runner-up, they will advance along with Columbia St. to the NJCAA East/Central District tournament May 15-17 in Covington, Georgia. The tournament in Georgia will be held this coming weekend to determine its two representatives in the national tournament. The last time the Bucks advanced to a district tournament was 2000, when former coach Don Rhoton led Motlow to a district championship and a berth in the NJCAA national tournament where they finished as national runner-up. It is the only time in Motlow baseball history the Bucks have played in the national tournament.

Motlow All-American Will Stay For Sophomore Year

Two years ago Dequon Miller had a decision to make. Was he going to be just another former high school basketball player who didn’t live up to his potential, or was he going to use his talent on the court to get an education and create opportunities for his future?
Miller chose option two, and Motlow College and its basketball family are glad he did.
When Matt Sligh was named head men’s basketball coach at Motlow College in July 2013, he inherited a program that had won the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association championship the previous season. With no players returning from that championship team, his first order of business was to build a roster.
His first recruit was Miller, a point guard who had averaged 28 points and eight assists per game in prep school. Sligh liked what he saw in Miller and felt that he could build a team around the talented freshman. Miller exceeded expectations by being named an All-American, and despite offers from multiple major-college programs will return to play his sophomore season at Motlow.
While Miller’s goal is to ultimately play basketball for a four-year college, he recognizes the benefits in returning to Motlow; both for his game on the court and his personal goals as a student-athlete.
