Motlow Men Win Two as the Lady Bucks Drop Two
Bree Horner led the Motlow Lady Bucks in scoring with 10 pts. Lauren Brown & Erin Layne added 9 each in the 87-62 loss to Roane St. on Friday night at Motlow College.
On Saturday the Lady Bucks lost to the nation’s 20th ranked Wallace St Lady Senators, 69-41. Sabrina Jackson led Motlow with 11 and Horner added 10.
The Motlow men defeated Roane St. 119-85. Clint Nwosuh leads the Bucks in scoring with 32 points. Jaylen Barford chipped in with 23.
On Saturday the Bucks fought off Wallace St to move to 11-1 on the season with a 74-69 conference win. The Senators held All-American DeQuan Miller to 3 points (all free-throws) and Clint Nwosuh to zero points but Terry Holt stepped up with 24 and Jaylen Barford added 19.
Motlow has no games this week.
Raiders Split Wrestling Matches
The CHS Wrestling team welcomed Lawrence County and Stewarts Creek for a 3 team match on Friday night at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym. The grapplers got strong performances from top to bottom of their roster as they got a win over Lawrence County and a strong performance, in a losing effort, against Stewarts Creek. Against Stewarts Creek, Joel Singleton dropped a tough 6 to 2 decision(132
pounds). The Raider grapplers got pin fall wins by Owen Teague (126), David Tate (138), Jose Ruiz (145) and Joshua Tobitt (195).
In their winning match against Lawrence County, Owen Teague won a 4 to 2 decision at 132 and Austin Payne got a 9 to 3 decision (182). Hannah Curtis (106), Joshua Tobitt (195) and Joel Singleton (132) got forfeit wins. Getting pin fall wins for Coffee County were: Brandon Baumstein (113), David Tate (138), Jose Ruiz (145). The pin for David Tate was his 7th win by pin fall for the week.
Two People Arrested In Two Separate Shoplifting Cases On Thursday
On Thursday afternoon Officer Daniel Ray of the Manchester Police Department along with investigators and other officers responded to call concerning shoplifting at Wal Mart. According to the police report, the store’s loss prevention department stated that a male suspect ran from security. The suspect was seen across the street running behind the BP Station. Officer Ray saw the suspect making his way to the Truckers Inn next door to the BP. The man ran into room 103 of Truckers Inn. After two attempts to kick in the door with the suspect pressing against the door Ray was able to enter the room. Manchester officers were able to subdue the man in the bathroom where they found 13 Percucet tablets. Officer Ray arrested Samuel B Fults age 42 of 2495 Hillsboro Blvd (Truckers Inn). Fults was transported to the Coffee County Jail and charged with resisting arrest and possession of Schedule II.
In the meantime, in a separate case Officer Landon Pence took 62 year-old Mary Lois White, also of room 103 Truckers Inn, into custody for shoplifting from Wal Mart. She was transported to the Coffee County Jail and charged with shoplifting.
Car Crash Injures Several
Three Tullahoma residents were injured in a single car crash Wednesday afternoon on Highway 130 in Franklin County.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tina Fraley, 39, of Tullahoma was operating a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant with three young children in the car with her.
According to the THP, around 5:30 p.m. the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway while negotiating a curve. The car then traveled through a thicket of trees and struck a large tree and came to rest.
Fraley was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center as were 8-year-old Kayley Jones, 4 year-old Adrianna Hughes and Julieanna Hughes. (One child is not from Tullahoma)
They were also flown to Vanderbilt for treatment. Three helicopters responded including Vanderbilt LifeFlight, Air-Evac and Medflight from Huntsville, AL.
According to the highway patrol all of the occupants of the car were properly restrained.
Members of the North Franklin County Fire Department worked to free the occupants from the vehicle while paramedics from Rural Metro Ambulance Service stabilized the injured until the helicopters could arrive.
Deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and the Estill Springs Police Department handled traffic until the trooper could arrive.
M-TEK New Headquarters To Be Built In Murfreesboro
On Friday Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty and M-TEK officials announced the company will build a new headquarters facility in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Consolidating all headquarters functions into the Murfreesboro facility, the automotive supplier will create approximately 100 new jobs in Rutherford County. Also an additional 100 jobs will be transferred from M-TEK’s Manchester, Tennessee manufacturing location and the remaining jobs will be transferred from the company’s Farmington Hills, Michigan and Dublin, Ohio locations. The new facility represents an estimated investment of $13.4 million.
Construction of the 63,800-square-foot, two-level building, will be located on 10 acres on the northwest side of Gateway Boulevard and Garrison Drive in Murfreesboro with an expected completion of August 2016. The North American headquarter facility will support operations in Mexico, Michigan, Ohio, Mississippi and Alabama, as well as Manchester, Smyrna and Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Police Car Damaged In Accident
A two vehicle crash last week (Monday) resulted in a Tullahoma Police car being damaged.
According to a report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a patrol car operated by Officer Mickey Blanton was traveling on East Lincoln Street when a vehicle operated by Harold Jackson of Tullahoma collided with the left rear of the patrol car. The Jackson vehicle, according to the THP report, was traveling southbound on North Washington Street when he pulled out of the intersection and collided with the patrol car.
No one was injured.

12/11/14 — Willie Ray Bradford
Willie Ray Bradford, age 47 of the Pleasant Grove Community of Estill Springs passed away Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Medical Center of Manchester.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 11 at 1 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Hawkins officiating.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, December 10 from 5 PM – 8 PM.
A native of Manchester, he was the son of Willie Bradford of Estill Springs and the late Margaret Rice Bradford.
He was a truck driver who enjoyed playing the guitar, working on automobiles and watching NASCAR racing. He also enjoyed playing with his beloved Chihuahua, “Harley”.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Betty Bradford of Estill Springs; one son, Justin Bradford of Tullahoma; two daughters, Brittany and Courtney Bradford, both of Winchester; one sister, Becky Dye and her boyfriend, Daryle Frye of Tullahoma; one grandchild, Raelann Bradford; special nephew, Duane McCreary of Estill Springs and two nieces, Tanya Porter and her husband, Wesley of Manchester and Kandie Brannon and her husband, Joshua of Belvidere.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.
12/8/14 —– Robert Daniel “R.D” Turner
Robert Daniel “R.D” Turner of Tullahoma, passed this life on Thursday, December 4th, 2014 at Lynchburg Nursing Center at the age of 82.
Mr. Turner was born in Franklin County to the late Lewis E.B. Turner and Edith Bradford Turner.
During his life he served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Turner was a Television Repairman with Turner and Son and was a former member of the Tullahoma Primitive Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Turner is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Turner; three brothers, Eugene, James, and Ira Turner; three sisters, Judy Tipton, Elizabeth Turner, and Carrah Bell Arnold; and one grandson, Charles Roy Foreman Jr.
Mr. Turner is survived by two daughters, Judy Craven and her husband David of Saucier, Mississippi, and Mary Lynn Lyda and her husband Joe of Tullahoma; two sons, Roger Turner of Tullahoma, and Craig Turner and his wife Tammy of Friendsville, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, Billy, Kenneth, Jonathan, Joseph, Aaron, Madison, Kaley, Michael, Brian, Tina, and Jason; six great-grandchildren, Brendon, Ava, Peyton, Lilly Ann, Brian Jr., and Elly; two brothers, Malcolm Turner and his wife Mary of Tullahoma, and Richard Turner and his wife Alice of Belvidere, Tennessee; and one sister, Naomi March and her husband Paul of Charleston, South Carolina.
Visitation for Mr. Turner will be held on Sunday, December 7th, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Kilgore Funeral Home.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 8th, 2014 at 10:00 am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Lyda officiating.
