The Motlow Bucks got themselves back on the winning track Monday when they traveled to Pulaski and swept the Martin Methodist College JV 6-3, 4-0 in a non-conference doubleheader.
Motlow (12-20, 2-7) will step back into Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) play this weekend when they travel to Harriman for a three-game series against Roane State. Due to potential inclement weather the series has been moved back one day. Friday’s single game will begin at 1 p.m. CST, with Saturday’s doubleheader scheduled for an 11 a.m. CST start.
The Bucks will be back home next weekend when TCCAA rival Volunteer State visits the Driver Baseball Complex for a three-game series. A single, nine-inning game will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 1, and the doubleheader will be the next day at noon.

Trailing by a 3 to 0 score entering the 5th inning, the Red Raiders clawed out 6 runs on 7 hits in the last 3 innings to claim a big 6 to 3 district win over Lincoln County on Tuesday night in Fayetteville. The Raiders tied the game in the 5th with a 2 out rally as Noah Anderson had a 2 RBI triple and was driven in by an RBI single from Deandre Wakefield. The Raiders added 3 runs in the 7th when Wyatt Day drove in Cade Giles with a single before Coach David Martin scored Nathaniel Tate on a double steal. Alan Rob knocked in Day with an RBI double to give the Raiders their 2nd district win in a row. Giles and Tate each finished with 2 hits on the night including a triple for Giles. Bradley King pitched 2 innings of hitless relief to get the win for Coffee County. The Raiders return home on Wednesday night for the 2nd game in the series with Lincoln County. Thunder Radio will be on hand to bring you the broadcast beginning with the pregame show at 5:50. Come to the game dressed in your favorite retro attire as 1st pitch is set for 6 PM.
CCMS Baseball Tops North Franklin on Tuesday Night
A 2 run rally in the 6th inning helped the Coffee County Middle School baseball team avenge a Monday loss to North Franklin as the Raiders won 3 to 1 on Tuesday night at CCMS. Garrett Davis got the starting nod for Coffee County and pitched 6 1/3 innings to get the win. At the plate, Davis was 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored. Hayden Skipper had an RBI double for Coffee County in the 6th as he drove home Davis with the winning run and scored an insurance run on a throwing error by the pitcher. Brandon Jernigan came on in relief in the 7th inning to earn the save. The Raider baseball team will be off until Friday when they play host to Boyd Christian. First pitch is set for 5 PM at CCMS.
Westwood Softball Dumps Huntland on Tuesday Night
Haidyn Campbell struck out 15 batters and gave up only 1 walk as the Westwood Lady Rocket softball claimed a 12 to 5 win at Huntland on Tuesday night. Offensively, Westwood was led by Faith Willoughby who was 3 for 4 on the night with 2 doubles and 4 RBI. Campbell was 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. The win, which is the 2nd in a row for the Lady Rockets and the 3rd in their last 4 games, raises Westwood’s conference record to 3 and 4 facing a Wednesday road trip to Wartrace. The Lady Rockets will take on Cascade on Wednesday with the first pitch is set for 5 PM.
Westwood Soccer Remains Perfect on the Year
A pair of 1st half goals was enough to lift the Westwood soccer team to a 2 to 0 win over North Franklin on Tuesday night in Winchester. Facing blustery conditions and gusting winds on a small field, the Rockets “had to manufacture goals in creative ways” said coach Jonathan Graf following the contest. Angel Gonzalez chipped a ball over the Gator keeper in 3rd minute and Leo Basurto drilled a screaming “worm burner” into the back of the net in the 16th minute for the Westwood goals. The win improves the Roackets record to 8 and 0 on the season. Jalen Shelton scored on a penalty kick in the JV game to give Westwood a draw with the North JV. The Rockets travel to Sewanee on Thursday for a 3 PM match with St. Andrew’s – Sewanee.
CCMS Softball Grinds Out Win on 8th Grade Night
North Franklin held the Coffee County Middle School softball team to 4 hits for the game, but the Lady Raiders got another command performance from pitcher Hanna Richardson as they defeated the Lady Gators 4 to 0 on 8th Grade Night. Richardson, a sixth grader, held the Lady Gators to 3 hits as she pitched the complete game shutout. Eight grade players Ashley Evans, Keelie Hillis, Kaileigh Tidwell and Kyla Craig had the hits for the Lady Raiders. They, along with 8th graders Gracie Pippenger, Sarah West, Amanda Mukai, Maddie Harryman and Abigail Parker were honored in a ceremony following the game. The Lady Raiders are off until Thursday, April 7th when they play host to Lincoln County. That game is set to get underway at 5:30 PM at CCMS.
Westwood Baseball Falls in Extra Innings to Fayetteville
Extra inning games are tough on the young pitching staffs in middle school baseball, but a 10 inning, 7 to 6 loss by the Westwood Rockets baseball team to Fayetteville on Tuesday night only compounds the agony. A 3 run rally in the top of the 7th inning gave the Rockets team a 1 run lead entering the bottom of the 7th, but Tigers battled back to tie the game in the bottom of the 7th and send the game into extra innings. Westwood notched a run in the 9th inning, only to see Fayetteville tie it again in the bottom of the 9th. Austin Burch had 2 hits and a walk to lead the Rockets offensively. Brady Nugent drew 3 walks and also scored twice for Westwood. The loss is the 3rd one run loss for Westwood in their last 4 games as the Rockets continue to show grit as they improve daily. The Rockets will return home on Thursday when they welcome Community to Fred Deadman Park. First pitch is set for 5 PM.
CHS Soccer Falls to Blackman on Tuesday Night
A late Blackman goal proved costly for the Coffee County Central High School soccer team on Tuesday night as they fell by a final score of 2 to 1 to Blackman in a non-district friendly. The Blackman goal, in the 74th minute was not only the game winner, but also saw an injury to Raider defender Miguel Mendoza. The game was stopped for several minutes as trainers took a look at a lower body injury on Mendoza. The status of the junior will be listed as day to day following a complete medical evaluation. Blackman opened the scoring with a goal in the 25th minute. Coffee County got on the scoreboard in the second half as Paco Barrera bounced on the rebound of a Breyer Taylor shot to level the score at one. That remained the score until a collision in the box gave the Blaze the winning goal. The Raiders play host to Ooltewah on Friday at the Raider soccer field at the Raider Academy. That match is set to kickoff at 6 PM.
