Westwood Rockets Advance in Conference Tournament

Beating a team for a 3rd straight time in a single season is a tall order indeed, but that is exactly what the Rockets of Westwood did on Saturday afternoon in the first round of the Duck River Valley Conference Tournament.  The Rockets, who sweated out a 2 point win on Thursday night against Huntland, blew open a tight game in the 2nd quarter to sting the Hornets 42 to 25 in the opening round of the tournament played in Chapel Hill.  A Jake Hollandsworth 3 pointer with 58 seconds remaining in the first quarter tied the game at 7 and the Rockets never trailed again.  Westwood built a 16 point 2nd half lead as Coach Will Panell was able to empty his bench.  Hollandsworth was the hot shooter on the night for the Rockets as he drained three 3 pointers to finish with 13 points.  Byron Sullivan finished with 7 points as he was a force to be reckoned with on the offensive and defensive boards.  With the win, Westwood advances to the round of 8 as they will take on 2nd seeded Liberty on Monday night.  That game will tip off at 7:45 and will be played at Forrest.
