Brileigh Gray of Westwood basketball
The Westwood Lady Rocket basketball team opened up Duck River Valley Conference tournament play on Monday night in Eagleville. Taking on Middle Tennessee Christian, Westwood needed a win to keep their season alive in the single elimination tournament. The Lady Rockets could not claim the upset as they fell to Middle Tennessee Christian 45 to 37.
After falling behind in the first quarter, the Lady Rockets rallied to take a 7 point lead into intermission. In the second half, MTCS chipped away at the lead in the 3rd period before exploding for 18 4th quarter points to take the win. “I’m really proud of how the girls played tonight! Westwood was led in scoring by Bryleigh Gray and Leonor Moreno who each scored 10 points. Maddie Sullivan chipped in 9 points for the Lady Rockets whose season comes to a close.
