In non district action in Smyrna on Friday night, the Coffee County Lady Raiders fell to Smyrna 43 to 40 in girl’s action. Coffee County led 13 to 10 after the first quarter on early 1st National Bank 3 pointers from Katie Reid and Sarah Brown. Smyrna roared back in the 2nd quarter to lead by 2 at the half; a lead they stretched to 7 points with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd period. Coffee County found their scoring touch to tie the game in the 1st minute of the 4th quarter at 34. Before falling by the final score of 43 to 40. Coffee County was led in scoring by Katie Reid with 9. Sarah Brown finished the game with 8 points and played some great defense to earn the Gateway Tire and Service Center player of the game.
In boy’s action, Coffee County held the pace down in the 1st quarter to lead after one 10 to 6. Smyrna’s athleticism and Coffee County foul trouble gave the Bulldogs the momentum as they led at the half 24 to 19, but a Coffee County rally tied it at 26 with 6:20 to go in the 3rd. The Raiders stayed with the bigger Bulldogs eventually tying the game for the final time on a 3 point basket from Lucas Crismond with 4:40 left in the game. But turnovers and free throws allowed Smyrna to pull out to a 9 point lead late in the game and hang on to win 57-50. Coffee County was led in scoring by Lance Crismond who finished the night with 23 points. Lucas Crismond had 17 points including three 1st National Bank 3 pointers to earn the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the Game.
Coffee County will be on the road at Tullahoma on Tuesday night for the 4th road game in a row. We will have that broadcast on Thunder Radio beginning at 5:50 with the opening tip at 6:00 PM.
