For the 3rd year in a row, the Coffee County CHS Lady Raider Track team will have an athlete compete for the state pentathlon title as Sarah Pearson qualified on Monday at the sectional pentathlon held at Tullahoma. Pearson finished 2nd in the sectional out of 23 competitors. This will be her second straight year to advance to the state meet in the pentathlon. Teammate Karson Young finished in 3rd place and Diana Davis of Coffee County finished in 16th place. Pearson finished with 2708 points as she recorded a personal record in the 100M hurdles at 16.54 seconds. She also ran the 800M in 2:36.81. She also cleared 5 feet in the high jump, jumped 14’ 11.5” in the long jump and threw the shot 24’ 4.25”. Young also had a new personal record in the 100M hurdles with a time of 16.18. She finished the 800M in 3:02.48 and threw the shot 20’ 9”. Young had a high jump of 4’6” and a long jump of 16’ 3.75”. The state pentathlon will be contested at MTSU’s Dean Hayes Track on Monday, May 23rd beginning at 10:30 AM.
