Here is the latest update on the Westwood boys basketball team. The Rockets lost to Eagleville last Thursday 24-22. Stephen Sullivan led Westwood with 18 points. Motlow Basketball Teams Undefeated
On Friday night The Motlow Bucks and Lady Bucks had their first home games of the year. The Bucks beat defending conference champion Columbia State 77-56 and The Lady Bucks beat Columbia State 65-42. On Saturday the two teams hosted Jackson State. The Lady Bucks had four players score in double-figures in a 70-48 win. Presley Owen led the Lady Bucks with 15 points followed by Chelsey Wiseman with 14, LeKera Taylor scored 13 and Bianca Mason added 10. Jordan Rodgers hit Chris Boyd for a 26-yard touchdown pass with 52 seconds remaining and Vanderbilt rallied for a 27-26 victory over Mississippi on Saturday night. The Commodores (6-4, 3-3 Southeastern Conference) are now bowl eligible for the second straight season for the first time in school history. Vanderbilt trailed 23-6 early in the third quarter, but Rodgers found Jordan Matthews for a 52-yard touchdown minutes later to start the Commodores rally. Vanderbilt rolled to an 80-65 win over Nicholls State on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Gym in the Commodores 2012-13 season-opener. Vanderbilt has now won six-straight season-openers, dating back to the 2006-07 season. The Commodores (1-0 overall) are now 3-0 all-time versus Nicholls State (0-1 overall). The Tennessee Titans now (4-6) rebounded yesterday from a 51-20 defeat a week ago against the Bears with a 37-3 thrashing of the home-standing Miami Dolphins. Chris Johnson would become the first rusher to gain 100 yards against Miami in the past 23 games. Locker May Start Sunday
Tennessee coach Mike Munchak says quarterback Jake Locker will start against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday barring any setbacks. Locker worked with the starters on Wednesday, and Munchak says the Titans will see how he responds to practicing with the first-team offense. The Manchester Chiefs 10U Football team and Cheerleaders were honored by the Manchester Board of Mayor and Alderman on Tuesday night (11-6-2012). Motlow At Home Friday and Saturday
The Motlow Bucks and Lady Bucks will play their first home games and their first conference games this weekend when they host both Columbia State and Jackson State at Copperweld Arena. Friday night brings Columbia State to Copperweld Arena for a 6 p.m. tipoff. The Chargers and Lady Chargers are always highly-competitive in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association. The Chargers are the defending TCCAA tournament champions. The Chargers are 2-0 on the young season with a pair of lopsided victories under their belt.
