Coffee Middle to hold softball tryouts next week
Players wanting to be a part of the Coffee County Middle School softball team – tryouts are soon. CMS will have tryouts for upcoming 6th and 7th grade from 4-5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 7. SOFTBALL: Ferrell and Davis named to TSCA All-State Team
Postseason awards and accolades continue to roll in for members of the 2021 Coffee County Central High School softball team. Junior Kiya Ferrell and sophomore Kaitlyn Davis have both been named to the Tennessee Softball Coaches Assocation (TSCA) All-State Team. Ferrell was the table setter for the Lady Raider offense all season – batting at a .466 clip with a .537 on-base percentage and 50 runs scored. She had 9 doubles and 3 triples. Shane Greene nearing return to bullpen for Atlanta Braves
Braves manager Brian Snitker isn’t ruling out the possibility of adding Shane Greene to his bullpen within the next few days. “I think there’s always a chance,” Snitker said prior to Wednesday’s game against the Nationals at Truist Park. “We just need to get him to the ballpark.” After making his third scoreless appearance for Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, Greene was slated to go through his normal pregame running and throwing exercises on Wednesday. Titans make several staff updates
The Titans on Tuesday announced a number of updates to the team’s football staff. In the personnel department, Blaise Taylor is now a pro scout and Matt Miller is now a college scout, transitioning from their previous roles as scouting assistants. Taylor’s focus will be involved in advance scouting for upcoming opponents, as well as evaluating potential free agents for the free agency period every spring. Munn, Turner selected to play in TSCA All-Star Game
Two Coffee County Lady Raider softball seniors will have the opportunity to represent Central High School one more time. Senior Lady Raiders Keri Munn and Justus Turner have been selected by the Tennessee Softball Coaches Association to play in the TSCA All-Star Game. Raider football makes donation to Isaiah 117 house
Coffee County High School’s Red Raider football team and cheerleaders led a large effort to collect items and monetary donations for the Isaiah 117 House during the team’s spring intra-squad game in May. Last week the team was able to deliver donations to the Isaiah 117 House – including 2 van loads of toys, pajamas, diapers, toothbrushes and $700 cash. All incoming freshman students at Coffee County Red Raider Academy who want to play for the Red Raider football team should attend upcoming orientation. The orientation is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 1. It will be a brief informational meeting at the Coffee County football facility (located at Coffee County High School next to the practice field – 100 Red Raider Dr.).
