Coffee County Tennis Falls to Shelbyville
In a rematch of the girls’ district finals of 2015, the Shelbyville Central High School tennis team welcomed Coffee County to the Eagles home courts on Tuesday. Unlike last season, the Lady Raiders could not pull the upset of the talented Eagle teams on Tuesday. Both boys and girls teams fell by identical 5 -2 scores on the evening. In girls play, Maddie Taylor got a singles win(Score was 8-4) and teamed up with Ali Shelton to win in doubles(8-6) to score both Lady Raider victories. Westwood Rally Falls Short to Moore County on Tuesday in Middle School Baseball
A seventh inning rally came up 1 run short on Tuesday night as the Westwood baseball team dropped a 6 to 5 decision to Moore County in a Duck River Valley Conference game at Fred Deadman Park. Trailing 6 to 3 entering their last at-bat, the Rockets scored twice, and had the tying run on base but could not get the run they needed to force extra innings. The Community Viqueens scored in every inning on Tuesday night as they dropped the Westwood Lady Rockets 18 to 3 in middle school softball action. Hayden Campbell had a double and a single in 3 plate appearances and also had 9 strikeouts in the circle for Westwood. The Coffee County Middle School JV baseball team swept a doubleheader from Cannon County on Monday in a pair of games at CCMS. Kohl Young pitched a complete game shutout on Monday as the Coffee County Red Raider baseball team defeated Franklin County 2 to 0 at Powers Field on Crethan Hansert Night. The Westwood tennis team opened play on Monday afternoon at Fred Deadman Park with a split decision against Warren County. The Westwood boys got singles wins from Jaret Kemper, Caleb Simmons and Braeden Massicotte and the doubles wins from the teams teams of Kemper/Simmons Massicotte and Ricardo Ayala to notch the 5 to 2 win.
