The Westwood Rockets football season came to a close on Thursday night at Fayetteville as the Rockets dropped a 46 to 12 decision to the Tigers. Trailing 8 to 6 at the end of the first quarter, Westwood saw Fayetteville explode for a pair of touchdowns in the 2nd quarter to race out to a 24 to 6 halftime lead. CHS/CCMS Cross Country Hosts Final Home Meet on Wednesday
After rescheduling their meet from Tuesday due to facility conflicts, the CHS and CCMS Cross Country teams hosted a small meet on Wednesday afternoon on the campus of the Raider Academy. Both the Red Raiders and Lady Raiders captured the top 3 finishes in both the boys and girls races. The CCMS runners also finished high in the final home meet of the year. The Coffee County Middle School volleyball team celebrated 8th grade night on Wednesday with a straight set win over North Franklin. The Lady Raiders dispatched the Lady Gators by set scores of 25 to 12 and 25 to 7. The win raises the Lady Raiders record to 8 and 4 on the year as Coffee County has won 8 of their last 9 matches. Celebrating Senior Night in the most appropriate manner, the CHS volleyball swept Franklin County on Tuesday night at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym. The Lady Raiders used 35 kills and 21 aces to drop the Rebelettes 25-9, 25-17 and 25-20. The win improves Coffee County’s record to 19 and 13 overall and 8 and 3 in district play. Westwood Soccer Opens Conference Tournament with Shut Out Win
The Westwood soccer team opened play in the Central Tennessee Soccer Conference tournament on Tuesday night with a 3 to 0 win over Fayetteville at Dyer-Bouldin Field. With the win the Lady Rockets advance to Friday’s tournament semifinals. Faith Willoughby opened the scoring for Westwood in the 27th minute with a goal to allow the Lady Rockets to go into the half ahead 1 to nothing. The Coffee County Middle School football team ended their season on a high note with a 30 to 26 win over White County on Tuesday night at Carden-Jarrell Field. The win also secured a win on 8th grade night as the Red Raiders closed out the season winning 2 of their last 3 games.
