The Coffee County Youth Basketball League was in action on Saturday at Coffee County Central High School. With the conclusion of the Week 4 games, the elementary league teams officially passed the halfway point of the season. The teams will be back in action on Saturday before closing out the regular season in the first 2 weekends of December. The postseason tournament will begin on January 7th. Coffee County Youth Bass Club Members Compete in Saturday Tournament
Two boats from the Coffee County Youth Bass Club competed in the “Battle of Smyrna” Tennessee Bass Trail Event on Percy Priest Lake on Saturday. Of the 90 boats competing, the boat of Braeden and Colby Thurmond were the high finishers for Coffee County as they finished in 46th place. The Thurmonds landed 1 fish with weight of 0.8lbs. The boat of Taylor Fletcher and Blake Mangrum also competed but did not land a fish as 41 of the boats in the competition were shut out. TSSAA Unveils New Classification Plan
In the most comprehensive change in the classification of high school athletics in the last 20 years, the TSSAA released its new regions for the 2017-20 school years on Friday. The new alignments will feature a revised 6 class system for public schools in football. There will also be a 3 class system for baseball/softball & basketball. There is a new classification for volleyball which will feature 3 classes equally divided by participating schools. Soccer will feature 3 classes as well, equally divided by participating schools. The Titans wanted to make a statement on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. Mission accomplished. The Titans came out swinging on Sunday, and they never stopped. Savannah Quick Signs to Play College Golf at MTSU
Becoming the 15th golf signee in the last 9 years, Coffee County senior golfer Savannah Quick inked a national letter of intent with Middle Tennessee State University on Thursday in a ceremony at CHS. Quick becomes the second ever Division 1 signee for Coffee County golf and the first since Hollee Sadler signed with Tennessee Tech in the class of 2015. The Coffee County Middle School Raiders and Lady Raiders hosted their first home basketball games of the season with South Franklin on Thursday night. The Lady Raiders led from wire to wire in a 42 to 19 win in the girls’ game. The Red Raiders dropped a 52 to 41 decision.
