Fall sports are around the corner. The Coffee County Central Lady Raider soccer team will open the 2022 slate on Aug. 16 at Lincoln County. The Lady Raiders’ first home game of the year will be a doozy – welcoming Tullahoma for the annual Coffee Cup match on August 25th. Area football players from Coffee County Central High School, Warren County High School, Coffee Middle and Westwood Middle enjoyed a treat Friday when Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker stopped by the First Baptist Church Manchester to speak with them about his life, religion and football. Hooker brought some friends with him – including standout defensive lineman Tyler Baron. Both hung around for photos and autographs with everyone in attendance. Special surprise guest Alontae Taylor made an appearance before Hooker and spoke with everyone in attendance, at one point taking questions from the audience. First Baptist Church of Manchester will be hosting “A Night of Champions” with Tennessee Volunteers starting quarterback Hendon Hooker. The event is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 15 in the worship center at the church. Hooker will be on hand to share about his family, his faith and his football career. CHS basketball to host second kids camp this summer
Due to high demand, Coffee County basketball coaches Joe Pat Cope and Andrew Taylor will be hosting one more kids basketball camp this summer. Any children entering grades K-8 are welcome to attend camp July 20-21 from 1-3 p.m. each day at the Coffee County Central Gymnasium (100 Red Raider Dr.). Cost is $40 per camper with a $10 siblings discount and a $10 discount for campers who attended the June camp. In order to guarantee a shirt that fits, pre-registration is a must. FOOTBALL: Raiders hit the road this week for pair of 7 on 7 games
The TSSAA mandated dead period for athletics ends on Monday (July 11) and the Coffee County Central football team will be very busy this week getting ready for the upcoming season. The Raiders will hit the road on Tuesday (July 12) for an early 7-on-7 passing session at Ooltewah High School that will begin at 8 a.m. Central Time. Thursday (July 14th), the Raiders will travel to Red Bank for a 5:30 p.m. central start in more 7 on 7 action. The first week of practice in full pads begins on July 25th. Coffee County tennis team tryouts set for July 14-15
New Coffee County Central tennis coach Joe Pat Cope has announced that tennis tryouts for the upcoming year will be on Thursday and Friday, July 14th and 15th. Students entering the 9th through 12th grades who would like to tryout for the CHS tennis team should be at tryouts both days, which will be held from 9-11 a.m. at the tennis courts behind Raider Academy (McMinnville Highway). Dead period ends Monday. CHS golf first team to start official practice
TSSAA dead period officially ends Monday, July 11. And while many schools at Coffee County Central will be having unofficial workouts, the Coffee County Central golf teams will be the first to begin official practice. Under the direction of head coach Brad Costello, Raider golfers will hit the links on Monday at WillowBrook Golf Course to start official practice with the first match just three weeks away – an August 1st match in Tullahoma.
