Westwood Volleyball Edges Coffee County Middle on Tuesday

Squaring off for the 2nd time this season, the Coffee County Middle School volleyball team matched up with Westwood on Tuesday afternoon.  Playing before a big crowd at the Joel Vinson Gym, Westwood was hosting their 3rd straight home match.  The match turned out to be an exciting one that went to 3 sets.  Westwood captured the win by set scores of 25-23, 17-25 and 15-9. Temple Baptist Christian Volleyball Claims 4 Set Win over Victory Baptist Academy

The Lady Eagles of Temple Baptist Christian School made the short trip to Shelbyville on Tuesday night.  Temple took on Victory Baptist Academy in a JV/varsity volleyball doubleheader.  The JV team lost in 3 sets.  The varsity Lady Eagles won their match in 4 sets. Despite grabbing the win, the varsity Lady Eagles had to fight tooth and nail to capture their 6th win on the year.   Temple won by set scores of 25-27, 25-11, 25-23 and 25-17.  The JV team fell by set scores of 11-25, 26-24 and 5-15. Coffee County CHS Volleyball Falls to Riverside Christian

The Coffee County Lady Raider volleyball team hit the road on Tuesday traveling to Fayetteville.  Squaring off against Riverside Christian in a non-district match, Coffee County fell in 4 sets.  The Lady Raiders lost by set scores of 21 – 25, 25-21, 22-25 and 13-25. The Coffee County Middle School football team traveled to Winchester on Tuesday night for a conference tilt with South Franklin.  Coming off a 28 to 0 win last week over Harris, the Raiders tangled with the Trojans on South’s homecoming night.  South led from the very first play on their way to a 32 to 0 win over the Red Raiders. The Westwood soccer team welcomed Community to Dyer-Bouldin Field.  The young and inexperienced Lady Rockets could not get their offense on track as they fell by a final score of 6 nil.  The Viqueens scored 3 goals in each half as they held a 3 to 0 lead at intermission.  Westwood keeper Holland Willoughby did have 25 saves on the night. Interested in 2018-2019 Red Raider Swimming? Here’s what you need to know… 1. Tryouts will be held Friday, September 14th for NEW SWIMMERS only. Tryouts begin at 4pm at The Manchester Recreation Center indoor pool. The main criteria for making the team are as follows: demonstrate basic skill in the freestyle stroke and demonstrate the ability to complete 100 yards of freestyle non-stop swimming. Coffee County Football Falls to Blackman

Opening their 2018 region schedule at home on Friday night, the Coffee County CHS football team welcomed the #4 team in the state Blackman to Carden-Jarrell Field.  The visiting Blaze put the clamps on the Raider offense holding them below 100 yards of total offense as they won 42 to 0.
